SAKORN RESIDENCE & HOTEL

We stayed here 11 nights and it was an overall very pleasant experience. The room is big, the beds comfortable and the bathroom all good with everything working. It's a very clean hotel. The swimming pool is large and pleasant. The staff are all very friendly. Breakfast is with a menu you can choose from and it comes with fruit and a piece of cake. Many good restaurants literally around the corner. We definitely can recommend it as it's great value for money.

Accommodation Review Duration of Stay: Two weeks in August Reason: Cheap price Situation: The hotel is rarely occupied. At night, there are no rooms with lights on, creating an eerie atmosphere (no guests). The counter staff is absent every night, and when I call them, they're not there. (Male staff members work the night shift, but what do they do? I check out a little after 6 p.m. because of my evening flight, but there's no one at the hotel. They mysteriously appear outside on a motorcycle. It seems like they're watching the CCTV every night and then go home and get locked out.) During the day, the male staff members at the counter are on their phones all day, laughing with earphones in their ears. They don't even recognize me when I call them. And every morning, a strangely unfamiliar person at the hotel counter opens all the lunch boxes and walks around, waking up to the smell of food. This is definitely not a hotel. (This is why I'm really curious about how they run the place.) The female staff are relatively friendly. Breakfast is made to order. (It's the same as what you see in other photos, but it's a bit overwhelming.) Only the rooms facing the main entrance are bright and sunny. The rooms in the back are dark all day long, and the view is obscured by the 4-5-story structure and potted plants of the 137 Pillars House Hotel. (Never enter a room facing the back of the building.) The large number of potted plants leads to a lot of mosquitoes. The hotel management uses a lot of pesticides. The area around the hotel is a residential area for locals, and there are no pedestrian paths leading to restaurants and bars, making it dangerous at night. It's far from the Old City, making it difficult to get around. Overall: While the price is reasonable, I wouldn't recommend this place due to the ambiance, management, room conditions, safety issues, and distance. Solo Korean travelers should never come here alone. The entire red line in the attached photo is the area with tower-shaped plants. In order to block everything from the hotel over there, the Sakon Hotel is up to the 5th floor, and they planted a huge amount of plants in flower pots all the way up to that height.

Whenever I visit Chiangmai, I always stay at Sakorn not only for its location ( at a rather quiet and lush lane near Ping river) but also for it's services ( facilities and staff).
