The rooms, or rather our suite with a pool, left nothing to be desired! Incredibly spacious and the bed very comfortable! The location is stunning, nestled in nature, and the main pool is lovely. The beach is quite small, but it's only about a 3-minute walk to the local beach. The only things we didn't like so much were the breakfast and the restaurant. We recommend going to the local bars or restaurants instead. But otherwise, it's a truly fantastic resort.

The Santhiya's rating is mixed, as the undeniably stunning resort and idyllic location stand in stark contrast to the reality of the experience. The high standards suggested by the price point are unfortunately not always reflected in the details. The service at reception is a disaster. Arrival The transfer from Koh Samui by the hotel's own boat is well-organized. However, a significant drawback is the limited transfer time of only three trips per day. This often leads to considerable waiting times at the airport or pier, which detracts from the initial travel comfort. Location The location is the resort's absolute highlight. The adjacent bay is picturesque, and the northeast of the island impresses with its pristine jungle. The proximity to the small village, which offers a variety of good restaurants and provides an authentic change of pace, is a definite plus. Rooms The rooms are charmingly decorated with intricate carvings. In everyday use, however, functional weaknesses become apparent: there is insufficient storage space for luggage, and the covered veranda lacks a fan, which can make spending time there quite unpleasant due to the stagnant air. Dining The prices in the restaurants are fair, and the quality of the food is solid. However, the breakfast buffet lacks variety, as the selection is the same every day. Furthermore, the quality of some products is disappointing; for example, juices seem watered down, and the overall selection is more in line with a 4-star standard than a luxury segment. Infrastructure The hotel boasts visually appealing pool areas. However, access for people with limited mobility is difficult. The upper pool also lacks any sun protection, and the towel service is not continuously staffed. The internal shuttle service deserves praise for its smooth transport across the very hilly terrain. Cleanliness and Maintenance The hotel shows significant weaknesses in this area. Pool loungers and tables often appear neglected, and room cleaning is frequently superficial, sometimes leaving residue from the previous day. The access path to the main beach is also in poor condition and poses a potential safety risk for elderly guests. Service While most of the staff are very friendly, the reception staff falls short. They sometimes lack competence and the necessary English skills to efficiently resolve more complex issues. The worst part is the check-out process. You have to hand over your key and then wait 20 minutes for the room to be "inspected" before you're allowed to leave, even though a credit card was provided as a guarantee. We were truly speechless. Conclusion The Santhiya is a visually stunning resort in a prime location. However, anyone expecting a true 5-star standard will be disappointed. For the services offered and the lack of attention to detail, the price-performance ratio is currently not acceptable, at least during peak season. Interestingly, many of these criticisms can already be found in reviews written several years ago. Management, however, seems unwilling to acknowledge or address them. Those seeking true luxury in a similar style would certainly be better off at the Pimalai on Koh Lanta.

My daughter bought me a night at your resort in Koh Pha Ngan 27-28 December as a Christmas present. The purpose of the trip was to meet with 5 friends that we hadn’t seen for 10 years who were staying in the resort next door. We all met in the restaurant for lunch. Before ordering, we asked if the guests could use the swimming pool if they ate at the restaurant. We were told that they could as long as they met the minimum spending charge per head, which was something like ฿472.. They ended paying way over that and their bill came to over ฿8000. I wouldn’t have complained about the service at the restaurant, but because of the way we were treated later on I feel I must mention it. First of all, they bought me the wrong drink. For my meal, I ordered a Greek salad, which in the picture was a lovely big bowl of lettuce and salad and cheese and olives, which looked more like a main course. After everyone has been served their food I asked about the salad and it appeared they had forgotten that too. When it came, it was nothing like the photograph. It was a small ring of feta cheese, a few olives, tomatoes, and onion, which I demolished in four mouthfuls for which they charged ฿350. One of the waitresses scolded one of the waiters in front of us, which was really unprofessional. They also forgot some drinks that were ordered from our guests. The restaurant wasn’t busy. Later on around sunset time it was raining, but my daughter and four of the guests decided to have a swim anyway for half an hour because the pool was completely empty. While they were swimming, a member of staff came and demanded a photocopy of the guests passports and told my daughter she had to get out of the pool and come to the office with the passports copies. She told them she would supply the passport copies as soon as she had finished swimming. They said this was not possible and she had to do it immediately and hassled her four more times to demand she get out of the pool and come to the office. The way they did it was really unprofessional and very very bad customer service. I have never been asked for passport copies from people visiting other hotels, especially when they eat and spend so much in the restaurant and the way they kept coming to the pool to demand she get out was totally unacceptable. On checking out the next day, we noticed a charge for ฿2354 On inquiring we were told it was for the guests using the swimming pool!! We explained that the restaurant had told us that they could use it as long as they met the minimum charge. They said this was not the case there’s obviously a mistake and we had to pay it. We tried reasoning with them to make them see it wasn’t our fault, that we were given the wrong information and that if we’ve known we would be charged, they wouldn’t have used the pool. They did not listen and summoned someone else who backed up the fact that we had to pay it. All this took about 20 minutes. They did not care that we had been given the wrong information and they did not care about the service in the restaurant when we mentioned that. They kept on saying that it was incorrect and we had to pay even though their staff told us we could use the pool. They didn’t want to listen to or care about anything we said. The customer service was appalling and I would never stay there again because of this. I don’t usually write bad reviews, but I really do feel strongly about this. My daughter intended this to be a lovely night away, seeing friends, and we left with a bitter taste in our mouths and angry for the way we had been treated.
