Great room, great breakfast and the scenery, what more could you want...no sea...

A quiet, family-run hotel close to the village center. The Zwölferhorn cable car is right around the corner, and parking is directly at the hotel. Wi-Fi worked very well, check-in was smooth, and the owner family and staff were very pleasant. Breakfast quality was great, though the selection could be a bit wider. I stayed in a single room with a balcony, which was a real plus. The hotel is also dog-friendly.

We stayed at Hotel Schernthaner for three nights and four days, starting September 26th, to climb Schafberg, a mountain that requires good weather. To sum it up, I'd say it was the best accommodation! The owners, a married couple, warmly welcomed us from day one! They kindly gave us a pamphlet with ferry and cogwheel train schedules for Schafberg and explained everything we needed to know. The hotel room was perfect, and although the balcony was small, the beautiful view of Lake Wolfgang and the mountains made us wake up feeling refreshed every morning! :) The breakfast was delicious, with fresh vegetables, yogurt, various jams and butter, eggs, and ham! We chose this place after reading reviews that said the owner was as warm and welcoming as our own grandmother. Unfortunately, we didn't get to see her during our stay. However, the owners, who made us feel like family to the grandmother in the reviews, welcomed us with such warmth! Thank you! :) On one side of the floor where the information desk is, there's a small play area for the owner's adorable three-year-old baby. After the busiest breakfast hour, around 9:30 a.m., when everyone else was gone, the owner would play with the baby. It was so heartwarming! It was like a scene from a movie, and I remember it vividly! I hope your baby grows up healthy and strong, and I wish the entire hotel family only the best! + And just like the warm-hearted owner couple, the housekeepers are all so kind! We left a note saying we'd leave a tip tomorrow morning because we didn't have cash, and although they weren't working, they wished us luck! And they cleaned the room really well! I'll leave a tip for the owner couple on their behalf! I'd appreciate it if you could pass it on! :) + And the people of St. Gilgen are all so friendly to tourists, so I'll have only good memories of my trip! The staff at the restaurant and cafe are all so kind! I pray that the town will be filled with blessings! :) + I feel like I've only said good things, so here's a small improvement: The bottom of the electric kettle in the room was dirty, so I couldn't boil water and drink it! I tried to boil some cup ramen, but it wasn't edible. Haha.
