Schilizzi Hotel

AWFUL! It's not a B&B, but a guesthouse. It's absolutely not worth the asking price. I've never stayed in a "hotel" like this... maybe it could be a 2*, certainly not a 3*! They charge €5 for luggage storage! POSITIVE (not much): Close to the city center, a 5-minute walk from the L1 "Università" metro station. The reception staff are fantastic! They do everything they can to resolve issues and make guests happy! They're a complete waste of money in this establishment. NEGATIVE: Even though the rooms were recently renovated, they appear to be poorly maintained. My room was clean, however. I had a problem with the boiler; I was without hot water for over 24 hours. They don't have trained staff to contact in case of plumbing or electrical emergencies. They wouldn't let me change rooms even though there was one available for booking on their website. I emailed them for a refund for one night, but they didn't even bother to respond. The pastries for breakfast are probably from the day before, given how hard they are. The cold cuts, cheeses, and sandwich bread are inedible.

A great place to stay in Naples, in an ideal location for the centre and for travelling, with welcoming and very helpful staff! Less than 5 minutes' walk from the "Università" stop on the metropolitan subway Linea 1, the hotel is located in an old building (don't let the outside road, a bit on the old side put you off: the interior, particularly the rooms, is very clean, welcoming and comfortable) where two floors have been adapted to accommodate large and comfortable rooms, very pristine clean, with modern furnishings and nice touches, such as a room safe large enough to fit a 15.4" laptop. The hotel is 10 minutes from the main touristic port and from the Central Via Toledo, whilst also being very close to places like Piazza del Gesù, Santa Chiara, the Duomo, Via San Gregorio Armeno (famous for the Nativity scenes', or "Presepe", artisan shops), Cappella Sansevero, and, of course, many of the best pizzerie and restaurants in Naples. Also, with the train station only to subway stops away, it is an excellent position to visit places around Naples, such as Pompei, Ercolano, Vesuvio and Sorrento. A good continental buffet breakfast, with fresh produce lets you start the day properly. But the best feature of the hotel, in my view, is the staff: very friendly, enthusiastic, always happy for a nice chat, in the style and habit of us Neapolitans, making you feel very welcome. I definitely recommend this hotel!

Not recommended. I don't understand the three stars. I would have given it only one. Located on the first floor of an apartment building. Old door. Even older elevator. Musty rooms. Smelly air conditioners. Bathroom radiators don't work. Misleading website images. No bidet. They even charged for slippers (without telling us they were chargeable and without telling us the €2.50 cost). They didn't provide a receipt for the tourist tax, which was paid in cash only. Not to mention the discounted parking... the car was always parked outside in the blue lines. Breakfast was poor. At Christmas, only a slice of panettone for dessert, no croissants. Savory food from a discount deli. Luggage storage was charged. Look elsewhere. Don't stay there.
