Seaview Resort Khao Lak

Very disappointed with this hotel. In the photos, it looks very well-maintained and convenient, but in reality, that's not the case. We had two rooms. The first (Deluxe Ocean) was extremely damp, dark, smelled musty (like a cellar), and was infested with mosquitoes. The second room (although cheaper because it was further from the sea) was brighter and didn't smell musty, but the air conditioning was terribly noisy. As for the amenities, there are two pools. The first is small and located by the sea (if you don't get a sun lounger at 7:00 a.m., you'll never find one). The second is much larger with a nearby bar. However, the pool seems poorly maintained; the water isn't clear, and the swim-up bar advertised in the photos is closed. It's not practical because to get from one side of the pool to the other, you either have to wade through the water or walk all the way around, which takes several minutes. (Annoying when you want to get a drink, use the restroom, or have belongings with you). Note that there are no elevators for rooms on the upper floors, making them unsuitable for the elderly and people with reduced mobility. Finally, the staff is pleasant, but their English is far too limited for the 4-star service promised by the hotel. Positive points: spacious, two swimming pools, well-located (near the sea), beautiful views of the jungle and the sea, varied breakfast. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this resort, as the standard falls far short of the 4-star rating and the advertised prices.

The overall experience was very positive. The staff are very helpful and the property is massive with 2 big pools and gardens. Gym was good too as well as the kids club (which has a nanny as well!) A few very good restaurants around. The beach front accèss was great. The only thing to improve was the room felt dated and also some parts of it was not cleaned well. Nothing major but just dust or some dead flies. Everything else was great.

The hotel definitely has great potential in terms of concept, location, and layout. However, it is currently very clear that the property is in an uncertain transitional phase, apparently waiting for new investors. Unfortunately, this situation is noticeable throughout the entire resort. The overall condition of the property is poor. Large parts of the infrastructure appear neglected, buildings show visible wear and deterioration, and ponds and canals on the hotel grounds are dirty and full of debris. The entire area feels insufficiently maintained, which is very disappointing given the potential of the place. One of the biggest issues during our stay was a severe mosquito infestation. Even with very strong and freshly applied mosquito repellents, it was almost impossible to stay outside on the balcony or outdoors at all — within minutes, one would be bitten multiple times. The resulting itching lasted throughout the day and made the stay extremely uncomfortable. We cannot say for sure whether this affected only our area or other parts of the resort as well, but for us it was unbearable. In addition, the beach section directly in front of the hotel is not particularly attractive, which further contributes to the overall disappointing impression of the property. On our first day after arrival, we had lunch at the beach restaurant. Unfortunately, the service was very poor — staff did not respond, and we had to wait an extremely long time without proper attention. A few hours after eating at the beach restaurant, I became seriously ill with gastrointestinal symptoms, which resulted in me being confined to bed. As a consequence, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day were essentially lost for me, as I was unwell and unable to enjoy the holiday at all. Of course, it is impossible to prove whether this illness was directly caused by the hotel or the restaurant. However, in combination with the general state of the property and our overall experience, it unfortunately fits into the broader negative picture of the stay. Due to all of these issues, we decided to leave the hotel several days earlier than planned. Staying any longer was simply not an option for us. That said, we would like to sincerely highlight the kindness and professionalism of the hotel staff. The employees were friendly, understanding, and cooperative throughout. As a gesture of goodwill, the hotel refunded the unused nights, which we truly appreciate. Conclusion: A hotel with a lot of potential, but one that is currently in urgent need of investment, maintenance, and a clear future direction. In its present condition, it unfortunately did not provide a pleasant holiday experience for me and my family
