Secrets Aura Cozumel

Only thing that we didn't like was the pushy sales, they first 3 were gray but the last lady basically ran us off.

Overall, I’m giving this resort a 2/5. Redeeming factors are the friendly staff and the incredible location. The beach is amazing and accessible. The water is clear and very swimmable. Snorkeling was a blast. The staff is accommodating and super kind. However, the positive aspects of this resort stop there. The rooms are in shambles. The refrigerator was broken and leaking coolant upon arrival. We had it replaced same day with another broken fridge. The resort is incredibly outdated and much of the room was covered in patch jobs- there was clearly some kind of leak or fire in the room we were staying. The blinds did not shut and there was a weird smell. The entire resort smelled like sewage, which was poorly masked by tea light candles scattered throughout the halls and restaurants. The food was mostly inedible, especially the Japanese/Chinese/Sushi place. The Oceana restaurant had a decent breakfast, but we ate mostly nachos. I would HIGHLY recommend leaving the resort and walking to Doña Chely for breakfast and lunch! Also, Secrets no longer serves premium liquor, which feels odd given the price of our stay. The overcrowding was insane. Folks tagged chairs starting at 6 am and the staff did not help with people hogging chairs and disappearing for hours. Many guests lined up on the edges of the pools like seals trying to find a place to lay down or sit. Thankfully we had the swim out suite which allowed us to skip the insanity of the main pools. Overall, I would not recommend this location. We have stayed at Maroma Beach and Moxche which feel like entirely different resorts at this point! Proceed with caution!

First time in Cozumel and we paid a lot of money to be a “preferred” customer. Our room was not ready to start with at Secrets after traveling all day. We go eat and come back, we had to take our own bags to our room once it was ready. The smell was overwhelming with a mold smell. In the vent was some type of air freshener. We leave and come back hoping it was just a temporary stench, the smell was overwhelming. We told management and they told us they were full but could maybe get us into Dreams if a couple did not take their room (this couple had an issue too). We go check out the room at Dreams and it is better than Secrets but definitely not what we paid for but chose to stay at Dreams. The food is average at best, service has been poor. It is very disappointing we paid so much to stay at Secrets and have had this horrible experience. Others we talked to at the resort had similar issues. The snorkeling was great and the fishing excursion was too. We will never use Secrets again and are going to inform our travel agent of our issues as well.
