Secrets Papagayo

Secrete Resort Papagayo Costa Rica was beautiful in the mountains and ocean of Costa Rica. Let’s start with the things that need improvement: This resort is NOT handicap-friendly. Due to it being in the mountain and very hilly most of the rooms are on top of a hill to be able to get the ocean view. You must take a transportation everywhere if you are handicapped. The roads are cobblestone so it’s very slippery. It does rain in the October months on and off. The bungalow rooms are very small. There is no changing area or different area to put items especially if you have multiple handicapped things such as a walker, wheelchair, or canes the room doesn’t allow for much movement and mobility for those with special needs. The bathrooms or showers do not have rails to help those who may need the extra support. The food is good but NOT gluten-free friendly. I had GF bread at one restaurant the Seaside Grill in the evening. There is not GF pizza crust at the bar, there’s no special fryer for fries, chips. I ate breakfast and chicken and potatoes /rice each night. I did not eat lunch as it was not gf friendly. The good: THE STAFF ARE AMAZING! Nelson is truly the best driver and team member! Nelson should be a supervisor as he is helpful in so many ways especially when you have a disability!! William at the preferred club is the best bartender! He makes a killer old fashioned! The drivers, those in the van to take you to room, Nelson and Amed are so helpful, funny, and just a pleasure to talk to. The food was good that we had. They were very accommodating with large groups. We did have to purchase wine in order for all of us to sit together. Tipping is much appreciated and staff were very attentive if you did. The fire show was great. Activities were fun and they played regular music which was so great. David our concierge was awesome as well especially with our large group of 20! They do offer a Hyatt program but they are not pushy at all. Alex our Hyatt program was very nice and did not push for anything. Overall it is a beautiful resort, has the best staff I’ve ever had at a resort, does need some updating, definitely not for handicapped persons, needs more GF food but overall a nice resort.

The food needs significant improvement; even if it's all-inclusive, the product needs to be fresh and taste good. On some occasions, I didn't find it good.

We had couples massages. The facility was spotless and very organized. The technicians and masseuses were excellent. This was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone.
