Your Review Viewing Shima on the Shimakaze We stayed at the Shima Kanko Hotel for our anniversary and had a wonderful time, like being in a dream world. We stayed at the Shima Kanko Hotel, where the Ise-Shima 2016 G7 Summit was held, on my wife's birthday, October 1st, as part of our 35th wedding anniversary trip. My wife had stayed at this hotel with her parents during the Showa era, and I had always wanted to return there. My wife and eldest daughter also took the long-awaited Shimakaze, leisurely traveling from Osaka Namba to Kashikojima Station. We boarded the large sightseeing boat Esperanza, hoping to see the hotel's exterior from the water. Captivated by the elegant design by Togo Murano, we went out to the stern deck and became engrossed in taking numerous shots with our LEICAM 6, which we had loaded with film for the day. We then took the shuttle bus from the station to the hotel. As we made our way through the trees and arrived at the front entrance, our time in Shima, filled with deep peace, began. Our room, premium suite number 402, had a "G7 SUITE" EU COUNCIL sign on the door. Apparently, it was used by EU leaders during the summit. The large windows offered an outstanding view, with the gorgeous sunset over Ago Bay and the pearl-like glow of the sunrise. We could see all the way from Cape Yakino to Kashikojima Bridge. The cuisine was a unique French seafood experience, supported by the hotel's traditional techniques. We also enjoyed the spiny lobster cream soup, which was a huge hit with the summit leaders. The executive chef's message on the menu read: "With gratitude and prayer for the blessings of nature, may the memories of the time we've spent together be conveyed on the plate." For dessert, the hotel presented us with a truly luxurious and lovely gift. A glass table was set atop a large glass basin decorated with flowers such as lisianthus, and two chocolate plates bearing messages of congratulations on our 35th wedding anniversary were displayed. Another large glass basin was decorated with wine-red cymbidiums, orange gerberas, and lady-green carnations. A glass table was placed above it, and a glass plate of dessert mousse was topped with a birthday message written in chocolate. The sheer beauty of the flowers and chocolates made me feel like I was in a dream world. In the main dining room, there was a table setting from the Summit's working dinner. It was like experiencing the atmosphere of a photographer covering the Summit. The Summit Gallery, a club on the second floor, also had wonderful photographs and exhibits, which I also took my time to explore. The desk and chair used by Toyoko Yamazaki to write The Magnificent Family were also on display. Pearl Shuttle: This deluxe sightseeing bus takes you directly from the hotel entrance to Uji Bridge when visiting Ise Grand Shrine. I was very grateful for this thoughtful touch, allowing me to enjoy a leisurely drive around Ise-Shima. I initially planned to take a taxi, but I really appreciated the thoughtful touch. I asked the front desk and they recommended the Pearl Shuttle, so I booked online. We didn't have to worry about the physical strain on my family or our luggage, and we were blessed with beautiful weather, so we felt great. ◎◎◎◎◎ Starting at Iwashimizu Hachimangu Shrine, we went to Arima Onsen Choraku and Shima Kanko Hotel. Our commemorative trip, which took us to Ise Shrine and Atsuta Shrine, was the most wonderful trip we've had in our 35 years together. This was my second night on a trip to Shima. I had visited four years ago and wanted to come back again. The spaciousness of the room and the overall relaxed atmosphere of the hotel gave me a sense of elegance. Next time, I would like to stay for multiple nights.
