Located on a quiet hill overlooking the sea, this inn offers hot springs and delicious meals. During the day, the large public bath is crowded with day-trippers, but at night, it's only open to overnight guests, allowing for a relaxing soak. There aren't many rooms, so you won't encounter many other guests in the hotel, allowing for a relaxing stay. It's a great base for sightseeing in the Shimanto and Tosashimizu areas. It would have been even better if they'd offered a cup of coffee after breakfast.

The rooms are quiet, clean, and comfortable. There are no restaurants nearby, so dinner is at the hotel, but it's a bit disappointing. The bonito tataki, tempura, and soup were delicious, but the other dishes were a bit mediocre. I wish they offered a buffet or let guests choose their own meals. Some of the dishes were cold, reminiscent of Showa-era catering. The breakfast was Japanese, beautifully presented, simple, and easy to eat. I wish dinner was the same. The convenience store didn't offer anything for late-night snacks, so there was nothing to eat in the evening. I wish they provided some snacks or appetizers. The hot springs are nice, but there are a lot of locals who use them for day trips, so it may be difficult to relax in the evening. Also, the lockers in the changing rooms are old and dirty. But considering the price, it's very reasonable, the rooms are clean, and it's not bad.

The inn I stayed at this time was Shimanto no Yado, a stylish resort-style hot spring inn. Upon entering the grounds, there's an auto campground and an observation deck before the entrance, and the inn is located at the back of the spacious grounds. After checking in and arriving at my room, I was greeted by a courtyard and the rooms radiated outward, giving it the feel of a foreign land. Since this inn is part of the JR Shikoku Group, the Shimanto no Yado station is located in the courtyard. The rails and sleepers are authentic. The rooms are designed like a lodge, with the accommodation buildings arranged in an L-shape. From the balcony, you can see the lush trees, giving the illusion of being in the forest. 🥹 Both men's and women's baths offer natural hot springs, medicinal baths, and open-air seawater baths. The water was so rich and smooth that it left my skin feeling silky smooth after a bath. My skin was still smooth the next day, so it was definitely worth it! ♨️ Dinner was a set meal of eel hitsumabushi, and breakfast was a Japanese set meal with six dishes, including grilled fish, a six-piece Shokado bento box, simmered dishes, salads, and pickles. 🍚 It was a very satisfying stay considering the price. ✨
