Silly Chickens Lodge B&B

This place felt like a cult. It was almost straight out of a horror story, in my opinion. On the first day we stayed, we were told to wander around freely, so we did. We walked outside and saw the chickens and the hot tub, but then we came across a room behind the entertainment area. In the center was a couple of chairs surrounded by monitors. If you’ve ever played COD: Black Ops 1, it was almost identical to the intro screen setup from that game. The first day honestly wasn’t too bad overall, but that section of the house was extremely creepy. We only stayed for one night. The next morning, we came down for the breakfast they provided, which was fine—no complaints there. During basic introductions with the older couple, the conversation suddenly shifted. Not in a way that was obvious at first, but there was a noticeable change in direction. They slowly introduced something they called a “Photon Fountain,” saying things like, “You experienced it last night.” .They went on to tell us a story about its supposed natural healing powers, even claiming it once saved a large Great Dane that had consumed rat poison. They gave us a card that supposedly helps with a wide range of medical conditions, many of which aren’t related in any way, such as infertility and vision issues, for example. The name on the card was EESC. The whole interaction felt like a sales pitch and seriously spooked my girlfriend. If you book this place, expect them to push this so-called recovery system on you. It felt very uncomfortable and scam-like. Our trip was a few years ago, but after visiting, we later noticed additional posts from other guests describing similar cult-like experiences. Those posts have since been removed.

Stayed here for a quick, last minute overnight and it was a lovely experience! I had never stayed at a B&B before. Karen & John were very friendly and hospitable as were Yogi & Bella! My room was spacious, clean and quiet and Sunday morning breakfast was delicious! I highly recommend!

We loved our stay in the Nest Cottage at Silly Chickens Lodge. Karen and John were lovely hosts and cooked us delicious and fresh breakfast each morning. We especially enjoyed the chickens, the scenery, and their pets, too. The lodge is in a convenient location to Mooresville and Davidson but also provides a nice rural escape.
