Discriminatory Treatment, Emotional Harm, and Policy Concerns I attempted to check into the Sleep Inn & Suites in Monona WI as a paying guest, but my experience was discriminatory, emotionally damaging, and deeply concerning. Because I am a woman and due to what I was wearing, the staff subjected me to unnecessary scrutiny and even conducted a background check solely based on my appearance. This treatment was invasive, judgmental, and entirely inappropriate for any hospitality setting. I felt unwelcome, unsafe, and emotionally distressed throughout the interaction. The anxiety, embarrassment, and humiliation caused by this treatment were significant, and I ultimately decided not to stay the night, even though my room was paid in full and money was not an issue. To add insult to injury, I have yet to receive my entire deposit which was 100 dollars. I called the next day twice out of curiosity to see what other employees would say a deposit would cost and both employees stated there was no deposit to book a room. This experience raises serious concerns regarding potential violations of anti-discrimination policies and guest rights. No guest should be treated differently or denied service based on gender, clothing, or appearance. Discrimination of this nature is unacceptable and should be addressed immediately. I am sharing this review to hold the hotel accountable and to urge someone above current local management to: Review staff training and policies regarding equitable treatment of all guests. Ensure that no guest is subjected to judgment, unwarranted scrutiny, or emotional harm. Implement procedures to prevent discrimination and uphold professional hospitality standards. I hope this feedback is taken seriously. Guests should feel safe, respected, and valued, not judged or emotionally harmed, simply for being themselves.
