We arrived at this hotel, my wife and I, drifting through the universe looking for a place to rest our heads. And we found it. The location was exactly where it was supposed to be, which is a rare thing these days. The rooms were comfortable, truly comfortable, the sort of places where you can lie down and briefly forget that the world outside is noisy and complicated. But a hotel is just a pile of bricks and glass until you put people inside it. There was a man named Sergio at the front desk. He had a mustache. It was a magnificent mustache. And there was Pawan who went out of his way to speak, in depth, with both of us. In a world that can be terribly indifferent, these two were aggressively kind. They were charming. They welcomed us not like customers, but like human beings who deserved to be happy. They went above and beyond, as the saying goes, to make sure our stay was wonderful. And it was.
