We booked the hotel through Akon for preventative health purposes. The beautiful surroundings offer excellent hiking opportunities. However, we were appalled by the hotel's dilapidated condition. We were understanding about the broken swimming pool and even received a voucher for another pool in town. But a room on the 4th floor and the fact that all the elevators had been out of service for over two weeks was unacceptable. Even if you consider climbing the 80 steps multiple times a sporting challenge, the filthy state of the stairwells (not swept once in six days) completely negates any such positive impression. The carpets in the hallways and rooms are faded and heavily stained, the furniture often has water stains or is dusty and dirty, a built-in refrigerator was screwed shut, and there was no safe. The armchairs are so cracked they pinch your thighs, and the breakfast buffet wasn't very varied and was often completely empty by 8:45 (sparsely refilled after 30 minutes). Unfortunately, we had already extended our stay by three days, which allowed us to observe that there was no activity at all regarding the elevators and that the breakfast offerings weren't a one-off. A compensatory offer such as reduced parking fees was explicitly refused. While the staff tried very hard to compensate for the shortcomings with friendliness, and the restaurant was always nicely set, our conclusion is still: never again this hotel, and we will be VERY careful in our bookings for the next Akon course.

Yes, the building is showing its age, and the charm of the 70s permeates the walls. We recommend the Junior Suite: new bathroom, large room with a balcony and panoramic views, comfortable bed, and wood-look vinyl flooring. Breakfast is fine, and the restaurant was also impeccable on our first evening. Today, we were here for lunch as a group from the local Helfrecht Academy. Our food was forgotten. It seems to be an organizational issue, not a service problem. 🤷‍♂️ The hotel is definitely not a wellness hotel. We slept well and stayed overnight.
