Sonesta Es Suites Burlington VT

I’ve been putting off writing this review in hopes that maybe the manager (after multiple attempts to reach them) would finally get back to me. The assistant manager even told me late last month that the manager would call me back. Hotels.com also tried reaching out to get me a refund and it was denied. We checked in on December 6, 2025 and checked out December 7, 2025. After multiple calls and being told that management would call me back, I’ve decided to write this review with the intentions of warning other people not to stay here & honestly with the hopes of finally receiving a refund. We booked through Hotels.com. After looking online for recommendations, we decided to have our daughter‘s pool party here. We called multiple times to confirm that this was going to be alright and each time were told that it was fine. Shortly after arrival, we discovered that it was very dark in the pool area. We went and asked the staff to please turn the lights on. We were informed that “we have been trying to reach our electrician for a long time now to get them fixed but there’s nothing we can do to turn them on right now”. This meant the pool area was very dark, rendering it not safe for young kids to be swimming in. To top off it being extremely dark by 4:30, it was 56 degrees in the pool area and the pool was only 80 degrees. When we asked them to turn up the heat we were told “I will see what I can do”. (Spoiler alert, the pool area was 54 degrees the next day). My daughter’s lips were purple within 10 minutes of swimming. The pool itself and attached hot tub has missing, broken tiles and the water was gross. Now info about our room. It was EXTREMELY dated, unkept, dusty, and dangerous. A metal piece of the bed frame left my leg with a bloody bruise that is still in its final days of healing a month later. The stairs are falling apart so much so that you feel like you’re going to fall through them at any given moment. My son hurt his hand on a screw that was sticking up out of the floor. We had a loft room with fireplace and the fireplace constantly had cold air pumping in. This meant that it was very cold in the downstairs area. We had the heat set to 70 and although downstairs was only 62 degrees, upstairs was 96 degrees. We used our thermometer to check the temp. It was so hot upstairs that we had to sleep with the window open. Although both showers were disgusting, one was especially disturbing with a large stain in the tub. My husband and I did not allow our children to use the showers, nor did we shower ourselves. There was also a peculiar brown substance on one of the walls. We are assuming there was mold, since we all woke up with a cough and sore throats that went away within hours of leaving the room. The only positive to this hotel is its front desk and breakfast area staff. The 2 women and one gentleman that we interacted with were apologetic and kind. We appreciated that although the hotel was horrid, the staff was friendly. All in all, I’ve told everyone I’ve spoken with about this to never stay at the sonesta in Williston (Burlington) Vermont.

this place is a joke. a complete joke. their staff are server rude they hang up on you and ignore your calls when trying to get a refund. they’re severely sickening. and can’t give me a boss phone number or name? terrible customer service. and they should make sure to ask for an id when your booking so nobody runs into this issue of having to be “21”. I will be finding the head manager if the whole corporate and making a report i recorded everything. don’t waste your time or money with these stupid people that barely speak any english
