Sporthotel Öhringen

I am explicitly not referring to the hotel itself, but to the restaurant and bowling alley at the Sporthotel Öhringen. We had booked a table for six people for a birthday celebration in advance. It was all the more disappointing, then, how poorly everything was organized – what was supposed to be a lovely birthday evening turned into a complete disaster due to the appalling service. Even on the way there, the air was thick with the smell of old frying oil. Unfortunately, this impression continued inside: a mixture of greasy smell and stale smoke that was almost unbearable. The overall ambiance was neglected, uncomfortable, and outdated. There was no trace of any ambiance. Our winter jackets absorbed the smell so strongly that they had to go to the dry cleaners afterward – that pretty much says it all. The food was a huge disappointment for our taste. It seemed carelessly presented, of inferior quality, and more like reheated convenience food or canned goods than freshly prepared dishes. The food was absolutely unconvincing and completely inappropriate for a special occasion. The service was practically nonexistent. Despite our reservation and the fact that we were there for the occasion, no one seemed to care. The staff were clearly more interested in private conversations and games than in attending to the guests. Drink orders went unanswered for hours, and empty glasses sat untouched on the table for ages. This is simply unacceptable for a pre-booked birthday party. The facility, advertised as a "bowling alley," turned out to be a run-down, neglected bowling alley. A smoke machine was running, its use completely pointless and only making the already unpleasant atmosphere worse. Overall, an extremely disappointing experience. A planned birthday celebration with friends was completely ruined by bad food, poor service, and an unpleasant ambiance. We will definitely not be returning.

The Sporthotel Öhringen offers solid accommodation with functional amenities. The rooms are practical and clean. The staff is friendly and check-in is usually straightforward. Overall, the hotel is well-suited for short stays or business trips.

My wife and I were there and I must say the room, the food and the service were excellent. We really enjoyed it and will definitely come back! 👍
