SpringHill Suites by Marriott Lake Charles

Upon checking in there was a homeless man under the canopy trying to stay dry from the rain. This was ok other than he was asking my oldest child for money as my wife and I were unloading our sleeping younger children. Once we got everyone inside the hotel room I went down to move our vehicle from under the canopy and park it. There were four parking spots available immediately in front of the hotel facing the road. As you can see in the photo this may be the worst engineered parking lot in the history of parking lots. I’m not sure I could fit my daughter’s trike in here. Spots will go open all night as a result of their inadequate size while hotel patrons search for places to store their vehicles overnight. I ended up parking a quarter mile away. That was a fun walk in the rain. Meanwhile, instead of fixing their plumbing/hot water heaters they were kind enough to put a note (see photo) in their elevator explaining how we can gain access to hot water by wasting water for up to five minutes. It was a joy to read this as the elevator smelled like weed on the way to our room. On a serious note, and I am no conservationist, but here is the math on each guest running water for 5 minutes and the waste that occurs because of this hotels inefficiency: Assuming consistent occupancy and daily use throughout the year (365 days): • Midpoint (4 min delay): 5,040 gallons/day × 365 days = 1,839,600 gallons per year • Lower end (3 min delay): 3,780 gallons/day × 365 = 1,379,700 gallons per year • Upper end (5 min delay): 6,300 gallons/day × 365 = 2,299,500 gallons per year So, the hotel likely wastes roughly 1.4–2.3 million gallons of water per year from guests waiting for hot water in showers. Our room’s AC is leaking water all over the floor so we put a towel down. Also, there are hard water stains all over the glass shower door. It looks like it hasn’t been cleaned for weeks. There is rust all over the night lamp. Fitness area is not in good shape and has limited options. Need desperate attention. This is a $70-$80/night hotel in its current condition. We are here for $140/night and are essentially being robbed at this price point. We are very disappointed.

Rooms need maintenance. Sliding doors difficult to open and in disrepair. Staff acknowledged it and made measures to resolve.

Started to look, feel and smell a little run down. Ac rattled all night, rooms smelling funky, plaster cracking and chipping, carpets stained in hallways.
