My wife booked here tonight for my birthday meal. She had booked the restaurant but when we arrived we were seated in the bar. From start to finish the service was appalling, drinks took ages (had to ask again for them after 15 minutes) and we had to ask for cutlery for our mains. I had monkfish to start it was overdone and venison for my main, I asked the server about how the chef reccomends the venison they said medium to well. Mine was medium rare. My mash was not nice. My son was happy with his food. My wife enjoyed her starter, the sides came after the mains and the mash potato was not very nice. Not once were we asked did we need anything, or is everything okay for you. We won't be back for the overpriced food and shocking service.

Wedding Experience at Step House Hotel – October 2, 2025 It took me months to calm down enough to write this review. I’m crying as I write this because the stress and mistakes leading up to and on our wedding day were so overwhelming. We booked Step House Hotel with only five months to organize our wedding. On our first visit, the hotel looked beautiful inside, the atmosphere was perfect, and the food was incredible. We immediately said yes, paid the deposit, and left feeling excited. Unfortunately, after that day, everything went wrong. Our coordinator, Becky, failed to communicate important details to the staff. She forgot to reserve rooms for our guests, leaving me to fix the mess—guests were coming from Poland, Hungary, and Dublin. This caused me immense stress and multiple breakdowns, and my bridesmaids had to manage chaos because there was no proper support. Communication remained poor throughout the planning. Staff were often unprepared when I called, mistakes kept piling up, and I had to resolve issues myself. On the wedding day, although we tried to enjoy it, several problems persisted: Staff were stressed and rude, leaving guests confused, my guests had no idea where to go and were ending up in my room as I was getting ready can you imagine that? During the cake cutting, we weren’t given a plate or fork and had to eat the cake with our hands. We tried to make it look fun but inside I wanted to die of embarrassment. Extra charges were added for gifts brought by guests without warning, including €500 for “food hazards.” I can’t believe Becky didn’t come to ask me to just take it away she chose to keep it and her respond was “ I didn’t want to ruin your day “ Complimentary rooms promised to us were charged. ( I resolved it in the end but she still charged me for breakfast even tho I was told its going to be complementary) The videographer and photographer were not informed of dining arrangements, leading to extra costs. Guests were rushed, unable to finish their food or drinks, staff just wanted to finish their shift and go..... I had multiple guests asking why are they taking it so fast I didn’t know what to say. The wedding cake was served too late, so many guests didn’t get any also I bought sweet drink for guests and staff brought it out when dinner was over even tho I specifically said to leave then at the table. Tea served throughout the day was undrinkable and smelled like fish. Becky’s repeated mistakes caused major stress and ruined parts of what should have been a joyful day. I had multiple breakdowns, my family and friends were affected, and the chaos left me with lasting regrets. Step House Hotel is a beautiful venue with amazing food, but the planning and coordination were extremely unorganized. On top of that unnecessary extra costs that should have been ran by us! If you’re considering this hotel for your wedding, please be aware that the lack of proper management can turn a dream day into a very stressful experience.

We went for a dinner with my boyfriend. The service was excellent. Even though we were a bit late they provided us with the table! The booking is essential. The food was amazing. This is my second experience in the 1808 Brasserie & Cellar Restaurant and it was just the same, bravo! We ordered roast breasts of chicken and slow cooked feather blade beef. And the dessert left me speechless... it was just a dream: classic Creme Brulee with Raspberry sorbet ❤️ Thank you very much! It turned out to be the great day... with the proposal in the end! (on the Viaduct 🥰)
