Sturgis Lodge and Suites

Hotel was not what we expected. The front desk was NOT 24 hours. The pool had a sign on it that said do not use. There was one pool towel for the hot tub. The phone didn’t work, the internet didn’t work. The bathroom had no bath products, and three bath towels for a 2 queen bed room. One was a yellow color that should have been white. Bathroom fan sounded like it had an electrical issue and made a loud noise. No wash clothes and one hand towel. The room smelled musty and the air conditioner didn’t work. We attempted to check with the front desk about the air conditioner and there was a sign on the door that said front desk closed until 7 am. We removed the front of the air conditioner unit to see if there was something we could fix and the inside was full of green and black mold. That was when we decided to pack our things up and leave to find another place to stay. We weren’t able to call the front desk, leave a message or let anyone know we left so we wrote a note and tried to put it in the front desk door. The hotel was also not secure, the way to get in our room was through the outside door to the pool and that door was not latched or locked. Anyone could enter the pool area from outside. There were also pieces of old room furnishings out and around the pool area. Old mattress with stains on them, and old furniture. There was mention of a fitness center on the website but there was not one at the location. This just did not feel like a safe place for my family and I. There were two things I could find to compliment the place on. The shower had good water pressure and the hot tub was hot. But other than that it was disgusting.

BEDBUGS! BEDBUGS! My room had bedbugs when I stayed there. Ended up with several bites across my shoulder. The rooms were grungy and dirty. Breakfast ended an hour before the posted end time. The attendant was nice enough to keep out some of the food but it was not good.

I love this place! This is what I call donation season in the local area where all the items get turned over to nonprofits in need following the joys of rally the previous summer. The food is amazing... Belgian waffles and biscuits and gravy this morning it is often eggs but its a hit option plus waffles always. There is also an attendant to keep everything hot. They allow and love pets also. The pool and hot tub are always a plus too. Its now a beautiful mahogany in all the new rooms. I've never had a bad stay here.
