Surfers Century Oceanside Hotel

We paid $215 AUD a night for a deluxe 2 bedroom and booked 7 nights. This is more than we ever pay and quite honestly we found the apartment a bit of a let down when we stepped inside. The carpet was all stretched with rucks in it. The paintwork was chipped and damaged in multiple places, window frames damaged. Kitchen tap loose and unsecured. Main toilet all chipped around the visible concrete base. The couch had a ripped arm. Dishes, cutlery and glassware were all mismatched like bought from a thrift store. One reason we picked it, was the photos online of the large balconies with a dining table and chairs as we really wanted to eat outdoors. In reality the balcony was very small and had a coffee table and two chairs. The throws on the bed were cheap and had stains. The 1 sachet of dish washing powder and laundry detergent was minimal given how long we were there and what we paid. A few more would have been nice. Building noise from construction sites on several sides was very disappointing and annoying with diggers and trucks starting at 7.00 a.m each day. Windows were rattling one day from the diggers and we were on the 19th floor. Not the property’s fault but guests should be advised and price should reflect this big negative. Each floor had closed rubbish chutes so we had to cart our rubbish down 21 floors to the basement every few days which was very inconvenient. The problem overall I think is like many apartment buildings in the area, most apartments are individually owned and thus the standard and decor varies hugely but they price them all the same. What we expected from the photos online was not what we got. I think the prices should vary depending on the apartment as the variation between them is too great to charge the same price for all of them. Reception staff were friendly, not that we needed anything from them. Pool was excellent and spa, both outdoors. Location was central and one block to beachfront. 15 minute walk to central Surfers/Cavill Ave and 5 minute walk to light rail.

Stay away! RUN! Arrived, first room was absolutely disgusting. Thick dust everywhere, mould in the shower, blood smear on wall, not vacuumed, surfaces covered in dirt/food/sand. Asked for a second room, again, dirty, table and chairs/couch had salt and food all over, mould in shower, dust, filthy table cloth with stains, dirty freezer. The female manager has no peoples skills and didnt seem phased at all, didnt want to discuss it, check it or see the photos i took. We ran to Meriton which was welcoming and clean!

We booked the bbq area near the tennis courts and on arrival we found that all the tables and chairs needed to be cleaned as we could not use them as they were. Three times we checked at reception that the area was clean and ready for use and 3 times we were told it had been cleaned that morning. The area was dirty and uninviting.
