The Anza - A Calabasas Hotel

Average hotel with pool that was closed, noisy rooms and average amenities.

This is honestly a great, clean, stylish hotel in a great location. I understand other folks didn’t have their expectations met by this hotel… meanwhile, my expectations were exceeded. First of all, Sofia and Alyssa were by far the most helpful hosts I met whenever I went up to the front desk to ask for help, check in, or check out! A shout out to them is due for their awesome hospitality. The hotel itself was really pretty, very stylish, and had me feeling like I was in a movie whenever I walked around. I loved the toiletries they provided (the shampoo, shower gel, and hand soap smelled sooooo good!) and the room I was given was super clean and comfortable to be in. I had a table, coffee tables, plenty of places and chairs to sit, and of course, a big comfy bed. The TV is great, and I absolutely loved the mood lighting inside the room that got away from the “big-light” feel of most hotels that don’t make them cozy like The Anza. See pictures! The parking situation was great, I was pleasantly surprised that there was a parking garage. I liked this because I tend to hold a lot of gear and extra clothes for work, and it made me feel like my belongings were more secure. Even though parking is not free, it’s worth having your car in a safe space. Besides, you’re in the center and historic district of Calabasas. If you parked on the street, you’d get towed or have to pay even more… so it makes sense that you have to pay. If you don’t like that, you could try to park in the carpool lot beside the hotel, but that’s at your own risk—I haven’t done that myself. I think this hotel is great—and I was just here for working night shifts! I slept through breakfast, but the breakfast area in the hotel looked super cute. The spa was also gorgeous—I only peeked but it looked like a great spot to hang out when it gets warm. This hotel is also literally right off the freeway and it takes about 3 minutes to get back on the freeway, that’s mainly why I chose it… it would be easy to get to and from work. When it comes to others complaints about noise, I agree that it could get a bit noisy and that you can hear the housekeepers and other guests because there are gaps in the doors. But also… people just like to be loud. That’s wherever you go. All around, this is a great spot. I think the bad reviews are partially because this is an uppity, wealthy area and I guess people’s expectations are that this will be an all-inclusive resort or something. It’s not. It doesn’t try to be. It’s an honest, remodeled hotel that has been a great spot to sleep while feeling a little luxurious and stylish.

CJ is the best! Very hospitable and 10 out of 10 personality. Would definitely recommend booking here just because of CJ and his aura
