I live an hour away and go to the island twice a year, this hotel has Terrible WiFi, I had to work and it was impossible, then I go to the lobby and they have a SECRET EMPLOYEE ONLY WiFi that actually works well(only in lobby) so they don’t share the good WiFi with guests. The restaurant has a 20 % service fee. Which is insane in Malaysia. This hotel serves mostly loud or party people. Lots of smoking and drinking. And they’re always doing construction which makes the area look too developed . All the food is bad, my Malaysian wife hates it, the only decent thing is a burger which is just frozen patty nothing special, it’s super bland they’re afraid of food flavors

A dreamlike place. Highly, highly recommended. And without a doubt, the best part was the service from all the staff... very attentive, helpful, and very friendly. I'll definitely be back!

I came here with my bestfriend and the boat transfer was really smooth. They even arranged the parking spot for us and when we arrived at Besut Jetty we don't need to wait for the boat (as I had a bad experience before with other resort). We arrived around 12noon for check in and the staff gives us an upgrade for Deluxe Family Room which we can enter right away. Since October is a low season so not much visitors here at the resort. I love the relaxing and calming vibes here full of serenity. The resort located just the opposite of Kampung Nelayan, there are lots of beautiful coral fishes here. We got to see baby shark, baby swordfishes, small crabs, and other corals fishes in front of the resort. We had a wonderful moments going for Snorkelling Trip B (Rawa Island, Tokong Burung, Serenggeh) only for RM60/pax - we got to see Nemo fish near the Nemo Chalet (extra location just opposite the resort) and very beautiful blue-purplish baby stingray at Rawa Island (the instructor helps us to find the fish hiding behind the coral). To be honest, what I love about the resort is their restaurant and view from the front of the resort. It was very cozy and relaxing thou sometimes the squirels and monkeys would come to pay a visit. I felt more connected to nature staying here (as previously I stayed at Long Beach area). The foods are delicious but quite pricey with 18% tax but for me it was truly worth the price as the portion was really big and the foods quality is hotel quality. We had a good time ordering with Xavier as he is really funny and always attentive about the orders. He always being helpful to bring us any extra condiments also. This is my first time staying at The Barat Perhentian and I had a really good first experience here. Will come here again for the view and the restaurant of course.
