The Barefoot Eco Hotel

Great hotel with very friendly people and very clean rooms. Great buffet, fresh fish daily, delicious fruit, and other desserts. The beach is spacious with plenty of room for everyone. There's a small reef right in front of the hotel, perfect for snorkeling. Great excursions are available, offered directly by the hotel with a fantastic crew. Overall, a good approach to truly implementing sustainability. Anyone coming here should be mindful of local customs: no alcohol in the hotel, local dishes and food, although pasta and cakes are also offered. Internet access is weak. Keep in mind that electricity and water are generated using complex processes, so please use them sparingly. Please respect the dress code here, which is not the same as in Central Europe. This applies especially to women, who sometimes dress far too revealingly.

Back from a 12-day stay in January 2026: As a preface, this is far from a 4-star resort like those in Europe, more like a 2-star. The service staff are extremely kind and attentive. The reception staff, however, are less so. The overall impression is one of "worn out," and the staff does their best to maintain the place. Arriving on the barefoot road sets the tone (papers everywhere, cigarette butts on the ground, and plastic bags). The half-board meal over 12 days is very repetitive and heavily influenced by Italy (more like a camping snack bar, not to be unkind), with the exception of the "Maldivian evening." Compared to other resorts in the Maldives, breakfast is very disappointing (as you can see in the attached photos). Rarely in 10 days did I crave the food I'd eat at home. Very popular with our Italian friends, as evidenced by their crowded beaches... and the behavior that goes with it. Regarding the dive center: The staff is very friendly and professional, but the dives aren't as readily available as the program suggested. In two weeks, I did everything in duplicate... no more than 25 minutes by boat. The worst part was not being able to go diving with the "Manta's" even by paying, knowing that the hotel offers paid snorkeling trips every three days. Isn't that ridiculous? A business logic I don't understand... but the pleasure of often being able to dive alone on the boat was worthwhile. :) It's a shame Hanimaadhoo isn't more developed because, in my opinion, the town doesn't offer much culturally... interaction with the locals is very limited. The food options are practically nonexistent. Once the "Maldives" dream wears off, this hotel doesn't deserve more than 100 euros a night with this business model! Beautiful hotel at fantastic place.Truly Maldivian atmosphere. I was mesmerised by beauty of the sea,you can reach from your room by a few steps.You can easily do snorkeling.I liked the spacious room and its amenities. Hotel staff are kind. I would also like to thank Maria,our guide for manta ray trip. While I was booking,it seemed all taxes included but when I arrived to hotel,they charged green tax(12 $ for 1 person for each day).Hotel explained that they received reservation from Expedia and Expedia didn't send the green tax amount (despite I made my reservation from Booking.com) . Booking.com team replied that my fare was final and all taxes included,but they just told me to discuss hotel however hotel didn't refund this amount.
