Had the misfortune to book this hotel on the 11th if January. Supposedly a 5 five star. The room was very small. The air con wouldn't go up past 13 degrees. Had to change rooms during the night but the air con still wouldn't work so they gave us 2 plug in heaters . The following morning we had to deal with obnoxious I'll trained staff who didn't want to know about our issues .. I would suggest the staff and management should take a day trip a couple of hundred yards down the road to the Europa Hotel and observe how a hotel should function. I don't who rates the hotels in belfast but someone needs to look at the Fitzwilliam hotel and take them down a peg or 2. They ruined was up to then a fabulous weekend. I wouldn't recommend this place at all . Definitely not a five star

My fiancé and I had an amazing stay back in November to celebrate our engagement. The room was clean, spacious, and looked great. The breakfast buffet was the best breakfast I’ve had in Belfast!

Stayed in December 2025 and I’m still confused about how this hotel has 5 stars. We booked an upgraded city view room the city was there, the upgrade less so and the curtain situation in the lobby what is that about? The welcome plate (two macarons and a brownie) tasted suspiciously like it had been thawed 10 minutes earlier. We were also meant to get a glass of prosecco on arrival… presumably still on its way. The minibar wasn’t complimentary and the prices were laughable Tesco across the road is the real VIP experience. Breakfast felt like an airport at peak travel time: crowded, chaotic and oddly stressful. With genuinely good 5-star hotels nearby at similar prices, I don’t understand how this place keeps its rating. Ironically, the 4-star hotel we stayed in the next night was far better in every way. Still puzzled.
