Worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. Read this review in full and then you decide. Do NOT stay here...the owner is a liar. Cannot be trusted…what a despicable person. Shame on him. I visited from Canada in Feb 2026 and booked their apartment which is "family owned" with this hotel. I made the reservation 4 weeks before arrival. They confirmed booking by taking my credit card (to guarantee booking) and I received an email receipt. Called the morning that my stay was due to start. Was advised to get keys from this hotel. Advised that I would be checking in late as I was stuck in traffic on the M4 motorway. Arrived at 6:30pm....and was advised by the lady at reception to take a seat as the owner was on his way to speak to me. Owner arrived and created a series of false statements ...."You cancelled this reservation". When I asked how and when and to show me proof...no answer. Then the story changed...."Your reservation was found on the desk this morning crumpled up...so we assumed you had cancelled it"...I said that I just flew in from Canada and that your cancellation policy (clearly shown above their reception desk) indicated cancellation less than 24 hours would forfeit the first night costs. I asked if he had charged it as I wanted a refund...then he advised my credit card wasn't charged. I asked why...his response was that he didn't want to "upset me". Then the story changed again. With further questioning of him along with the reception lady (at the same time) their stories didn't add up. He was throwing her under the bus saying that she had cancelled it. She responded that "it wasn't me". He offered us a room in the hotel with complementary breakfast. After 6 hours of driving from London I didn't have the energy or time to find another spot. So we very begrudgingly took it. The room was awful. Nothing worked. Shwer had no hot water, one light bulb was blown, no towells in room, and the bed was so old the matress has a visible bump in it. I went back down to complain about the room and I asked again how this error occurred. He asked the lady at reception (in front of me) when the current tenants were due to check out of Ty Eldeston....she advised the next day...and that’s when the penny dropped. He had double booked the apartment but did not want to tell me. Shame on him. This place is worse than Faulty Towers...but without the humour. Please do not reward this dishonest guy with your patronage. They deserve to go bankrupt for their unethical behaviours.
