The Global Hotel Tokyo

Generally a convenient hotel, but one of the senior gentleman working here shouts loudly at the younger women working here for hours at a time. Because I can’t speak Japanese I don’t know if he’s angry or happy. Even on different floors you can hear him shouting from the lobby. It’s a daily thing. Sometimes the young woman - who is normally quiet - begins responding loudly to him. When the women aren’t there, he is quiet. When he’s here at the same time as the women, it’s not possible to work peacefully in the lobby. You can get peace and quiet on the fourth floor rooftop, but there’s no electric sockets to charge laptops or phones on the roof. Hopefully he is being kind to the women - again, I can’t tell because I don’t speak the language - but finding a lower volume would be nice for the sake of customer’s peace and rest. Other than that, it’s a convenient hotel. I would give it 4 stars if not for the shouting each day. I don't speak Japanese, so I don't know if he's angry or pleased, but it's the loudest voice I've ever heard from a Japanese person, whether foreign or local. I can hear his yelling from the lobby, even on different floors. This happens all the time. Sometimes the usually quiet young female staff start yelling at him. When there aren't any women around, he's quiet too. When he's in the lobby at the same time as the female staff, I can't work quietly there. The rooftop on the fourth floor is quiet and peaceful, but there are no outlets there to charge my laptop or cell phone. I hope he's being kind to the female staff, but again, I don't speak Japanese, so I don't know. I'd appreciate it if he could tone it down a bit so that guests can have a quieter rest. Other than that, it's a convenient hotel. If it weren't for the noise, I'd give it four stars.

This is the worst hotel, definitely avoid it!! I had to stay there for two weeks, and I've never seen such terrible service. I was robbed, and when I complained to the front desk, they said, "It's not our problem." Of course. The hotel has very few lockers with locks, only one very small one that could only fit a handbag. You have to leave your other luggage in front of your bed or in the middle of the busy reception area. There is a washing machine, but when you ask for change to use it, they refuse and tell you to wash your clothes somewhere else down the street. The common areas are also dirty and not well-maintained. Sure, it may be a little cheaper, but if you're treated like this and your luggage isn't even kept safe, it's much better to pay a little more and find another place. I recommend changing the staff. Additionally, there is a kettle at the reception for meals, but if you want to use it, you have to go up to the fourth floor and fill it with tap water yourself... I've never seen such lazy staff (two women, one with dark hair and the other with bleached blonde hair). This is just advice. To anyone thinking of going there -- just get away!! Practical and well located, each room had enough toilets for no one to wait and showers 24 hours. Downstairs there's a point for eating, having coffee and I think also a small smoke space. The bed was compy, my only complain is that it is a little hard to climb the top beds but once on the bed there's enough space to sleep well with one medium size bag there not disturbing at all to sleep. A practical place to stay close to Shinjuku where one doesn't need to care about the time of the night last train. I enjoyed my stay.
