I would like to give this review zero stars because we weren’t allowed to stay there. Let me explain: My husband and I reserved a 2-night stay at the Hancock House to celebrate our anniversary. We booked the stay through Booking.com, however about a week before our stay, I called the Hancock House directly to ask if they could recommend a restaurant. I also mentioned at that time that we would be bringing a small service dog. The employee (?) gave us the name of a restaurant and made no mention about the dog. However, when we arrived and went to check in, the proprietor (?) told us “no pets.” We explained that the dog wasn’t a pet but a service dog, and we had a letter from our doctor affirming this. No luck. We were told that we would be denied lodging. He did say that, on the basis of what I told him about telling someone there that we had a service dog, he would refund our money. That was in October of last year. It’s now late February, and no refund. I have emailed him multiple times, reminding him of his promise to refund our money, but he has ignored my emails. Not only are his actions in violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, but he lies about issuing refunds. Thanks for ruining our anniversary weekend. .

Bed and no breakfast! Breakfast only for weekend stays apparently, although no one told us while we booked the room with inn keeper during tedious process of repeated phone calls and texts with him. We did not find out until we read the small print in the room. Another guest figured out how to make coffee for all of us in the am, and there was.a few tea packets and no snacks. House is charming and in a great location, but not well kept with worn out antique furniture, dirty carpets, and obvious smoking smell deodorizer thru-out house. No hot water at bathroom sink, remote did not turn on tv or control volume, but memory foam bed comfortable. Glad we only stayed one night.

Owner would not honor a gift card, so we weren't able to go. There is contradictory language on the gift card. Do not purchase a gift card to the Hancock House it will end up not being honored and a waste of your money.
