The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe

We booked our stay at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe for my son’s wedding weekend, drawn to its historic charm, recent renovations, serene grounds, and unbeatable location right across the street from our wedding venue. The property is beautiful—peaceful gardens, elegant rooms, and a refined ambiance that felt perfect for family coming together. On February 19, 2026—the night before the wedding—our group of 12 seniors (all over 60 years old, with perhaps one in their late 50s) gathered at Bing’s Bar as registered hotel guests to relax and reconnect after family members had arrived from all over the country on different flights. We had been served drinks responsibly earlier with no issues. Everyone was calm, conversational, and well-behaved—no loudness, no disruption, and no signs of intoxication. Without any warning, prior discussion, or individualized assessment, a waitress (not a manager) approached our table, stated that the entire group had been “over served,” and declared we would no longer be served alcohol. No questions were asked about what anyone had consumed, no sobriety checks were performed, no specific reason related to behavior or safety was provided, and no non-alcoholic alternatives were offered. The refusal was blanket for the whole table, while other patrons continued being served normally. To compound the issue, the waitress then handed me the bill and walked away—effectively ending the interaction without any chance to address the decision, speak to a manager, or resolve it courteously. Given that we were all mature seniors—many dealing with travel fatigue—quietly enjoying a long-awaited family reunion (mostly speaking Spanish in normal conversation), this felt abrupt, unfair, and humiliating. It significantly marred what should have been a joyful pre-wedding evening after so much planning and travel. We’ve submitted a formal complaint to management requesting a full explanation, apology, and resolution. While the Inn’s accommodations, grounds, and other amenities are generally praised, this experience at Bing’s Bar raises concerns about responsible service protocols (including California’s mandatory RBS training, which requires individualized, non-discriminatory refusals and proper escalation) and basic guest courtesy. I would caution others—especially families with seniors or travelers—planning wedding or reunion stays here. The setting has tremendous potential, but this incident was a real disappointment. Additionally, we encountered issues with breakfast service the morning after the wedding (or the following weekend day). My brother-in-law and several invited friends—hotel guests departing for early flights—were unable to obtain breakfast before heading to the airport. Despite most tables being empty (indicating low occupancy and no apparent rush), service was unavailable due to what appeared to be severe understaffing. They left without eating, adding unnecessary stress and inconvenience after a long celebratory weekend.

Excellent service and amazing bartenders! They go above and beyond to take care of their guests. This even applies when guests have over inbibed and are asked to leave.

Awesome cocktails with the most hospitable and knowledgeable bartenders to match. Every time I'm in that area i know I'll be treated well and be served a bomb drink! Room was super cool and bar service done by pros 👌🏾👌🏾we'll be back again and again!
