We stayed two nights in the hotel’s top suite, spending close to ZAR 50,000. The room, facilities, and most of the staff were excellent, which makes this experience even more frustrating. The problem was the lady manager handling check-out on the morning of 3 February. Despite complimentary bottled water being provided daily and a minibar included in our suite, she insisted on charging us for a bottle of water requested at check-out. The charge had to be added back onto an already generated bill — an unnecessary and awkward situation that should never happen in a luxury hotel. This was not about the money. It was about her attitude. She was rigid, dismissive, and repeatedly hid behind “hotel policy,” making us feel as though we were trying to avoid paying — which was frankly insulting given the level of room we booked and the amount already spent. What made this worse was knowing how different the experience could have been. The manager who assisted us during check-in and throughout the stay was warm, attentive, and solution-oriented. If she had been on duty at check-out, we are confident this situation would have been handled professionally and our stay would have been perfect. It’s extremely disappointing when a luxury hotel allows a single poor customer interaction (or one staff member’s poor judgment and attitude) to undo what was otherwise a near-perfect stay. First impressions matter — but last impressions matter even more. P.S. Tried springbok the first time in my life at the hotel restaurant and it was surprisingly good.

Beautiful location and a very nice room. We had the honeymoon suite. Our bill was about 50k R for two nights. The receptionist was arguing with us about water in the room (we hardly touched the mini bar) and made me pay for one bottle before we left. She seemed to be training a new staff member at the same time. Was quite unbelievable attitude... other staff were nice tho
