The Oba Hotel Torba

Our stay at The Oba Bodrum was unfortunately disappointing overall, and the value for money was clearly lacking in our opinion. The service was the biggest problem. No waiter proactively asked if we needed anything. Even simple orders like tea were placed on the table without a word – without çerez or other small items. You had to request everything individually, which is completely unacceptable for a hotel in this price range. The minibar was also disappointing: very sparsely stocked, hardly any snacks, and when we asked for chocolate, the only response was: "We're out of chocolate." For a resort that charges premium prices, this is simply unprofessional. The pastry shop was also terrible. It was barely staffed, closed as early as 7 p.m., and offered virtually the same sweets every day – often resembling leftovers from the previous evening's dessert. There was no variety or fresh offerings whatsoever. The children's water park is nicely designed, but the water is so icy cold that the children are shivering. A water heater is urgently needed – especially since many families book specifically for this area. On the positive side, the room service and the food were good, but not good enough to justify the very high price. For comparison: Angels Marmaris remains our number one choice. It's also expensive, but the overall experience there is excellent – something that is sadly completely lacking at The Oba Bodrum. In conversations with several waiters, we learned that they only receive minimum wage and are heavily reliant on tips. Understandable – but guests already pay so much for accommodation that many can't even think about tipping because their holiday budget is already depleted. The result: frustrated service and frustrated guests. Conclusion: We would never travel to The Oba Bodrum again for this price. Anyone spending that much money should consider going directly to Dubai, Doha, or other high-end destinations. Turkey is beautiful – but at these prices, the quality has to be right. Unfortunately, that was clearly not the case here.

The hotel's location was truly wonderful. Its proximity to the sea and the surrounding amenities were excellent. The sea was quite clean and clear, and the water was beautiful. The only thing that was a bit challenging was the rocky entrance, but it was still enjoyable to swim in. The food was generally delicious and had a good variety. The drink selection was also excellent, with options to suit everyone's taste. The variety offered, especially at dinner, was satisfying. The hotel's overall appearance was luxurious and modern. The lobby and common areas were quite stylish and well-designed. However, some of the room furniture was dated and in need of updating. This contrasted somewhat with the hotel's overall luxurious atmosphere. We had a mixed experience with the staff. Some staff were friendly and attentive, while others were a bit reluctant and indifferent, leading to fluctuations in service quality. Overall, we had a wonderful holiday experience. The location, sea, and atmosphere were wonderful. However, it's worth noting that the prices were a bit high; while the service and quality were good, it could be considered a bit expensive for the price/performance ratio.
