Unfortunately, I can only give this hotel one star. The only positive aspect is its truly excellent location. The rest of the stay, however, was disappointing. The hotel is extremely noisy. You can hear everything from the neighboring rooms – whether it's people walking around or even using the toilet. A peaceful night's sleep was therefore impossible. The rooms themselves are also quite small and very dated. What bothered me most, however, was the lack of security. The hotel is unmanned at night. Since the room door was difficult to lock (the kind of door you find in America that anyone could open with a hairpin) and it wobbled in the frame every time someone walked past in the hallway, I felt very uneasy. Any guest could have easily walked right up to my door. Due to the noise and the security issues, I cannot recommend this hotel. Parking is free.

The hotel's location is excellent, situated right next to the national park and surrounded by beautiful nature. That's definitely a plus. However, the hotel is showing its age. The furnishings are mostly old, the rooms are very noisy, and overall rather basic. Cleanliness could also be improved in some areas. It's also worth noting that the hotel is unmanned at night. Combined with the simple door lock, this doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Parking is also limited. While there is a large, free parking lot, it's unfortunately insufficient when the hotel is full. Overall, the hotel is adequate for a short overnight stay, but in my opinion, it doesn't meet the standards of a typical 3-star hotel; it's more like a basic hostel or youth hostel.

Had a wonderful stay at The Park Hotel Ruapehu with my best friend. The hotel offers fantastic value for money and having a twin roommate our stay comfortable and easy. Its conveniently located just 15 mins walk from the train station. We loved the friendly atmosphere and the delicious breakfast, which was the perfect start to our day. A great choice for friends travelling together!
