Lots to unpack here. The property itself is a gem. What a great retreat away from the city. Check in was easy and staff was attentive. Let me go category by category on my experiences. Service team: generally excellent. Our dinner service at the steakhouse was exceptional and the staff there deserve tons of praise. The lobby shop staff was less than friendly - one woman there told several people they were separate from the hotel and couldn't do room charges ("well we could but it would be a pain"), which she said almost with some pride. The only thing she said to me was "we don't allow returns or exchanges" as if I might look like I was going to wear the clothes then return them when I was done. It was weird. Food all over was excellent, to the pool cafe and the two restaurants we ate at. Breakfast was tiny, way overpriced and basic but that was a small hiccup - but don't expect any good espresso drinks here. We stayed in a casita and it was a bit disappointing. The shower was super tiny - think airline economy bathroom - yet the giant bathtub took up literally 1/2 the bathroom proper. The shower head and hand sprayer both sprayed at the same time with no means to turn one off. The knob was broken. And, the door leaked with every shower so half our towels went straight to the floor. Our casita had a walk-out to the parking structure only, terrible view. With no kitchen, a micro fridge, no microwave, it felt like a much cheaper room. Bed was nice though! The real disappointment for me was, there was really no "kid free" zone. There were two hot tubs lined with kids, even late at night. It's less like a resort and more like a kids water park. My towels were taken by others twice in 30 minutes, (once by staff and once by a child). This place has potential and I wanted to like it. Even at our romantic, $600 dinner at the steakhouse we were surrounded by children! It kind of ruined the experience for us. The adults only pool was in the middle of the chaos and not peaceful at all. We won't be back unless they work to segregate these areas better. I think we learned our lesson.
