The Saihokukan Hotel

Apparently it's a prestigious hotel where even the emperor stays, but we, commoners, stayed in the Minami (Commoner's) Hall. We got a standard business single room. It was neither good nor bad. It was old...well, it's a historic hotel. It's undeniably old, but it was very clean. But when my friend turned the key in the door, lo and behold! The key broke. I was with him, and it really did break when he inserted the key and turned it. Apparently, they called our room demanding a 10,000 yen bill. No, that can't be right. In the end, we didn't have to pay, but it's still not a pleasant experience being billed. We were doing repairs late at night and heard a noise... Broken keys? A long time ago, Aiko Gibo broke her car key at a haunted spot. Gibo said it was impossible for a key to break, and that it was because they didn't want her to leave. It's really impossible. She didn't treat the key roughly.

The facilities are a little old and the backs of the chairs in the room are torn, but the service was good, with futons provided and a welcome drink provided! It's about a 20-minute walk from Nagano Station.

We checked into this hotel for three nights because we were visiting Matsumoto Castle and the monkeys. We were given keys and went into our room. It was very stuffy, even with the windows open. The toilet was like a train toilet—all plastic with a metal flush button. There was a small piece of poop inside the toilet☺️...We went to the administration and without hesitation they moved us to another room in the new wing (we paid an extra 7500 yen for 3 nights for the upgrade)The new issue is generally good, but it also has some nuances. 1 ) When we were getting ready for bed, we discovered that only my daughter had a blanket on the couch, but my husband and I didn't. When we asked for blankets, they brought us a fluffy throw. After another try, we finally managed to get a blanket. 2 ) That same evening, someone else’s bag of diapers was found in the room. 3 ) The water in the bathroom also requires special attention. If you turn on both the hot and cold valves to get warm, the water constantly changes temperature and feels scalding. Also, when adjusting the pressure, the pressure is very strong, and the higher you raise the shower, the stronger it is. Overall, if you're not expecting a wow factor or don't plan to spend the entire day there, this hotel is a decent option. The decor in the second room wasn't exactly new, but it was nice.
