The Ubud Village Resort & Spa

First impression and location A truly beautiful place. It is almost surreal how you leave the busy street and suddenly enter a calm, expansive property surrounded by stunning rice field views. It feels like its own peaceful world, completely removed from the hustle and bustle. The resort is quite large, and it took us a couple of days to fully orient ourselves. Villa and comfort Our villa was spacious, well equipped, and very comfortable. Everything you would expect was there. The only downside was a leak in the room, but aside from that the villa itself was lovely. There is some construction happening during the day, but it is barely noticeable and did not disturb us at all. The resort remained peaceful, and we slept very well throughout our stay. Staff and service The staff were consistently friendly, warm, and helpful. From check in to daily interactions, everyone made an effort to be accommodating and attentive. We were also allowed to check in earlier than planned, which was incredibly helpful, especially travelling with a baby. Food and room service The food was great, and the team was very attentive to my dietary intolerances, including gluten and lactose, which I really appreciated. Room service was excellent as well. Orders arrived quickly and were ideal on days when it was easier and more convenient to eat in the villa with a baby. Facilities The outdoor pool was a lovely place to relax and perfect for spending time with our little one in the water. We had one massage at the spa, which was okay but not particularly memorable. The gym was very outdated, which was disappointing, as we had hoped to use it more. One visit was enough to put us off returning to the gym. Extras and convenience We used the resort’s partner bike rental service. It is almost double the price you would pay elsewhere, but the convenience of having the bikes delivered and collected directly from the resort made it worthwhile. Overall experience A peaceful, luxurious stay and a real treat to ourselves. With excellent service, great food, and a very relaxing atmosphere, it is a wonderful option in Ubud. With some improvements to maintenance details and the gym, it could easily be exceptional.

I came here last year and it was the worst Ubud experience I've ever had. I'm so insensitive to the condition and age of accommodations that I booked this place even though I knew it was old. The deterioration was beyond my imagination, and the staff were incredibly friendly. ㅠ I'm not sure how it got such a good rating, but since my previous Agoda review disappeared, I'm writing this for Koreans... On the first day, something broke in the water system, so there was no hot water at all. The bathtub didn't work either, so I ordered room service to eat wine and snacks in the bathtub. The repairman came to fix it, but he couldn't fix it. He came and went a couple of times, and while I waited, the food got cold. In the end, I just dipped my feet in the garden pool and had a quick bite. Even then, there was still no hot water. I needed to wash up and go to bed, so I asked if I could change rooms. Apparently, they didn't understand, and they kept calling the repairman over and over, making it a bit inconvenient. It felt like there was no privacy at all. The problem was that it rained while I was sleeping, and the water leaked into the room. I paid around 20 bucks per night, and for a place like that, it was a bit of a hassle. Could there be a water leak? And what was even more frustrating was the power out the next day... I think we've experienced everything that could possibly go wrong with a place. We went through all of this, and yet they still wouldn't change our room. The next day, I spoke to the manager, and he apologized and offered a free massage. But when I told him I only had an hour and a half, he said he'd be fine, but he just washed my hair and left. I've stayed at many of these types of independent accommodations, but this one felt particularly awkward, even among the staff. I came here because of the great reviews, but are those who left reviews right? The pool tiles are old, so I don't know the reviews that say they're well-maintained.
