The Viangtak Riverside

Clean and beautiful atmosphere by the Ping River.

This hotel is relatively large for the area. They offer a welcome drink, a security guard at the parking lot, and English is spoken at the front desk. The room was spacious and the air conditioning was relatively new. The room overlooked the Ping River. However, the soundproofing was quite poor, and noise from neighboring rooms and the hallway was easily audible. I didn't eat at the restaurant, but a large bottle of beer was over 150 baht. The hotel is old and, while somewhat well-maintained, it's by no means a mid- to luxury hotel. The pool and free bicycle rentals are nice touches. The room has a refrigerator and hairdryer. The amenities are, to be honest, quite mediocre. Considering the price, I think it's acceptable for a one- or two-night stay. The only problem is the hotel massages. I tried them because they were advertised in my room and in the lobby in front of the elevator, but to be honest, they were pretty awful. I love Thai massages and have had many in the past, so I know the basic flow, but I felt it was quite sloppy, with the massage steps being different on each side. Furthermore, rather than feeling like a massage parlor, the atmosphere was reminiscent of a different service, with the women just sitting there without even a uniform. The hotel itself is worth the price, considering its location (there are markets and restaurants nearby) and the view. However, if you see a massage advertised inside the hotel and are thinking of using one, I strongly recommend going to a proper massage parlor outside.

The rooms are a bit old and not very soundproof from the hallway, but they are clean. The staff are very helpful. The location is good, with a market nearby.
