Nice looking hotel, but a maze. Rooms are standard size, furniture is quite worn. Food was good and breakfast was sufficient. Not for people with reduced mobility. Location is a bit out of the way.

I was extremely disappointed with my stay at the Von Stackelberg. To begin with, we arrived at midnight and were told that our booking (which was made through British Airways) had been cancelled. We then had to ring BA and get something sorted out which appeared to be a clerical error on the hotel’s part. The receptionist who showed us to the room also didn’t offer to help take our bags, so we had to lug them up 3 flights of stairs late at night. The room (which was a deluxe suite) was extremely lacklustre and disappointing. The bathroom smelled of sewage for the entirety of the stay, no matter how many times it was cleaned (I suspect a problem with the pipes) and the room itself was dated and tired. The soundproofing was also poor which led to disturbances during the night, and a lack of privacy. The sewage smell from the bathroom would also seep into the bedroom if the door was left open. The restaurant was closed without any notice or warning on several days, and I would have liked breakfast to have been open an hour earlier. The breakfast selection was limited and quality was a bit disappointing. Additionally, the internal phone in my room was broken, so I was unable to contact reception or the restaurant for room service. The restaurants external line also didn’t work. The only redeeming factor was the location which was relatively convenient- being about a 15 minute walk to the Old Town. In all I found the hotel to be quite unpleasant and a real let down, which is a shame as Tallinn is a wonderful city. Avoid the Von Stackelberg.
