We stayed five nights at the Westin Puerto Vallarta, at a cost ranging from 35,000 to 59,000 Marriott Bonvoy points per night. The large property features colorful Brutalist architecture that nonetheless retains a certain charm. The common areas, guest rooms, and palm-fringed pools offer an airy, exotic, and pleasant atmosphere. The hotel also has a private, supervised beach. The breakfast buffet, while adequate, didn't live up to what I've experienced at other Westin properties. The service, both in the restaurant and around the pool, was satisfactory. There is a kids' club, but the selection of toys was limited, and some were damaged. The location is particularly convenient, just 10 minutes from Puerto Vallarta Airport (PVR) and 15 to 20 minutes from the historic center. Several restaurants are within walking distance, including those near the marina, as well as an OXXO convenience store directly across the street from the hotel for quick purchases (snacks, drinks, cigarettes, etc.). Note: the rooms no longer have bottled water; guests must use the water station located at the end of the corridor. The hotel is also scheduled to convert to an all-inclusive resort in 2026. Overall, our experience was positive. The Westin Puerto Vallarta is a good option for extended stays, both for couples and small families like ours. 4/5 Stayed in December 2025

Our stay at the Westin Resort and Spa in PVR was wonderful in so many ways, but not quite perfect. Below I will give flowers to those that worked so hard to make sure our trip was wonderful, but will also be realistic about areas the resort struggles. Arrival - we had two rooms booked and arrived early. One of our rooms was ready (we didn't expect either to be ready) and the other was supposed to be ready by 3pm. We didn't get into that room until almost 6pm. Minor inconvenience. Aleida was who initially checked us in and she not only thanked me for my Marriott status, but had seen the notes that both my wife and I had birthdays during the trip, so had a bottle of wine sent to our room - so appreciative. Most awesome about her was that she recognized me every time I had to go to the front desk and was so kind and helpful. Often the front desk staff and underpraised and she was so awesome and should be ackowledged. First miss, we used SNAs and got a swim up room - it was awesome...however ours was the only room that did not have any lounge chairs on the patio. We asked twice for lounge chairs to a gentleman at the front desk and both times were told they would bring some - we never got any. Santiago at valet was so kind and helpful. Not only did he help us get our bags to our room, but he answered so many questions on the fly during out time on property. He also helped us get a taxi to the airport. Santi was so awesome. So warm and kind - a true professional. The beach area is nice and the staff at the beach works super hard to make sure you are taken care of. The pool is a different story - the game of waking up at 7am to reserve chairs is a joke and a nightmare. So many open chairs that nobody is in, but that have a towel or magazine on them just in case they come back hours later....there has to be a better system. The pool itself is so beautiful, swim up bar is awesome and the water was so warm...all huge pluses. The pool service is understaffed and super slow. On the second day I waited over two hours (yes two hours) for my sandwich. You would think after that long and so many times asking the server for an update it would have been comped - it wasn't. I won't name the server because while it was his fault, it wasn't - this is a failure on pool management. They need more staff, the pool attendants had 50+ chairs each to manage. The dudes worked their butts off, but things fall through the cracks. Just trying to get your bill to sign out at the end of the day takes 30-45 minutes. So much room for improvement here. The pickleball and tennis area are awesome as well! My final highlight was meeting Jorge in the taco shop. We first me in passing in the halls during my first few hours on property, he was setting up the dining area for the day and just made simple conversation. He is equal parts chill, money and baller - that night we dined with him in the taco shop and the food was wonderful, but the service was 5 star...it was so awesome to see him work so hard to ensure his tables were taken care of. The next day I bumped into him again, told him about our dining plans that night (off property) and he gave me some wonderful pointers. Telling him that we were leaving the next day, he asked that we make sure to come by and say goodbye before leaving. Relationships are key to a good experience and Jorge gets that. Our goodbye was genuine and friendly. We would absolutely return to the Westin. Our rooms were great. The beds are as advertised. Just a few areas to tighten up. Yes the hotel is under construction but the construction didn't bother us at all.

We enjoyed our time here! Staff was welcoming and friendly, especially Angel from entertainment. Angel provided excellent service during our guacamole class and kayaks. He also surprised my husband and I! Another lovely staff member was Israel from La Palma, the breakfast restaurant. He was attentive and provided amazing service!
