As a longtime Titanium Elite member who's always championed Marriott properties for their consistent warmth and problem-solving magic, this check-in disaster at The Westin Tampa Bay left me stunned—and not in the good, bay-view way. We arrived for our anniversary, excited to celebrate, only to be met by Te'aira at the front desk, whose rudeness toward both my wife and me was matched only by her utter disinterest in resolving anything. My confirmed reservation? Vanished from her system. Did she investigate, consult a manager, or show even a flicker of effort? Nope. Her solution: "I can re-book you for $120 more." Just like that—dismissive, zero empathy, as if we'd wandered in off the street begging for scraps. We called Marriott central (where the rep was wonderfully helpful but couldn't magic up a nearby alternative), and ended up anniversary-ing elsewhere. Tiara didn't even pretend to care about the issue, let alone a loyal guest's special occasion. Mind-blowing indifference from someone in hospitality. I adore Marriott and rarely encounter this, but I should've heeded the reviews—this property's front-desk horror stories align perfectly with our experience. Disappointing doesn't cover it; for a brand that usually feels like home, this felt like a cold shoulder. Westin, do better.

I had a great stay a few weeks ago, primarily thanks to a staff member named Marvin who went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe and secure when I had concerns with my first room. Marvin promptly checked out the situation and moved my room, and was so kind and understanding the entire time. As someone who travels alone for work, safety is a huge priority for me and Marvin/ all staff at Westin Tampa Bay were great!
