Hotel Woolstore 1888, Sydney - Handwritten Collection

If you are looking for the edgy, boutique energy of a QT hotel, keep looking. While Hotel Woolstore 1888 markets itself as a premium "Handwritten Collection" stay, my New Year’s Eve experience felt more like a footnote than a headline. The Room: Room 119 or a Storage Closet? I expected "heritage chic"; I got "neglected attic." The room was incredibly cramped and basic. The bathroom was particularly disappointing, featuring peeling paint against an unfinished column. The overall design felt stale—less "curated industrial" and more "we forgot to finish the renovation." The Service: "Lacklustre" is an Understatement The welcome desk lacked any warmth, setting a mediocre tone that the rest of the staff worked hard to maintain. Service wasn't just slow; it was blunt. If you’re paying premium NYE rates, you expect a certain level of "sharpness" that simply wasn't there. The Breakfast Fiasco I thought breakfast might be the saving grace. I was wrong. The Wait: I waited 10 minutes to be acknowledged and another 15 to be seated. I watched another guest get "forgotten" for 25 minutes. The Food: The "premium" offering is restricted to one main and two drinks. The Culinary Sin: My avocado toast arrived topped with a rock-hard, overcooked poached egg. In a Sydney boutique hotel, serving a rubbery egg is practically a local crime. The Verdict For the price point—especially during a peak period—this was a massive letdown. It lacks the soul, service, and maintenance required to call itself a premium establishment. Save your money and stay somewhere that actually values your patronage.

Only 1 star cause i can’t give 0. Didn’t sleep at all last night cause it was so fricking noisy, i and don’t mean my neighbours but constant mechanical noises, dripping water and rumbling from the broken aircon. and that’s not even the only thing that was broken, we were 4 people in 3 rooms. list of what wasn’t working: the toilet (what the actual), the shower (only cold water), the aircon, the light, the fan (in the shower) causing the whole bathroom to be moldy!!! to sum it up, we didn’t sleep cause of the constant noises, some of us couldn’t go on the toilet, one left the shower feeling dirtier than before, the tvs in the room didn’t have any timer or a decent amount of programs and there wasn’t even any breakfast included. i’d say the one star is solely for the wifi and the miniature plastic farm under the elevator.

Arrived at the hotel 09:00 in the morning Christmas Day after flying from Canada for over twenty five hours, Aldi at receptionwas amazing!!! He found two rooms for us side by side and allowed us to check in early! If you have ever flown for over a day without sleep you will understand how grateful we were. The hotel had the most excellent cookies in the reception area for the guests all day on Christmas. Those little touches will always be remembered. It was our first trip to Sydney and the service at the hotel made it even more special. I owned and operated hotels for fifteen years and this property does everything exceptionally well! We will certainly be back and recommend this property to anyone travelling to Sydney
