We have stayed at The York last year and found it so good that we rebooked it this year. However we so regret doing so. We learnt by accident only the day before we flew that the swimming pool and sauna was still closed and this was a huge decision in us booking this venue. We swam each and every morning last year and to not even be told about it is disgusting. The manager’s attitude when I raised this was rude and ungracious. He put all the blame on out travel provider who are adamant they have not been told anything. We have not been offered anything in compensation inspite of asking. The York can rest assured that we will never step foot in this establishment again, it has totally gone down the toilet. I totally agree that housekeeping leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t think our room has been vacuumed throughout the whole of our stay inspite of leaving the sign out to make up our room.

I would not recommend The York. Our experience was extremely disappointing. We stayed for 4 days in January of 2026. The pool was closed despite the hotel website indicating it was open and operable. Ants were present in our kitchen and despite daily communications with the front desk with assurances they would be mitigated, the kitchen was not treated during our entire stay. The dryer was non functional and needed to be replaced. The sink faucet was broken and needed to be repaired. The water filter was not functioning and was unrepairable. The bedrooms were musty and needed to be sprayed and the bathroom soap dispensers were empty when we arrived. The main front door would not lock properly unless forced. There was no daily cleaning service. The front desk duty manager was unable to resolve our issues and repeatedly provided an email for us to email our concerns to. Our multiple emails went unanswered. Our travel agent's communications to The York also went unanswered. I would not recommend this property.
