Thermenhotel Ströbinger Hof incl Therme und Sauna

Once and unfortunately (never) again! Why? Here's the explanation: We booked the gourmet package with breakfast, a midday snack, and a four-course dinner! The food was excellent! There was absolutely nothing to complain about. And the service staff at breakfast were extremely friendly!!! However, there were a few issues that unfortunately marred our overall impression. Our room was in the older building – generally nicely furnished. However, upon arrival, there were shards of glass on the floor – under the bed frame. A clear indication that the room hadn't been cleaned thoroughly. This was confirmed when we looked in the toilet. We complained – they vacuumed again, but without a word of apology. They seemed rather annoyed by our complaint. Then there were the beds: having two single beds pushed together with a gap in between in a double room in a four-star superior hotel, instead of a double bed, is simply unacceptable. Furthermore, the rooms are very noisy. I was regularly woken up by the humming of the bathroom vents in the other rooms. This turns on automatically every time you go to the bathroom and then runs forever :-( We'd also like to mention that the underground passage to the thermal baths isn't a short walk; instead, you wander for minutes through the freezing cold garage and corridors – past all sorts of junk. We also had a rather unusual experience at dinner: There was a false fire alarm. An emergency alarm blared for 10 to 15 minutes until it was finally turned off. Afterwards, we all had ringing in our ears. But there was absolutely no apology from the hotel. No complimentary drink, not a single word of apology – NOTHING FOR A SOMEWHERE RUINED EVENING! The thermal baths are generally good, but you have to expect that your loungers will be cleared away after 20 minutes if you don't use them. You'll then find your swimwear in a plastic box. So, relaxing in the sauna and then unwinding on a lounger afterwards is out of the question at this thermal bath. No. The area around the hotel is beautiful, but under Streich's management, the vacation unfortunately wasn't worth the money paid... what a shame.
