We were rather pleased with the room when we first arrived. We got ready and left for our outing. When we came back we were pretty tired it was already midnight. Our key card would not open the door. We went down to get the receptionist and after a “while” she finally made her way up to our room, with a device in her hand that she had no idea how to use. She was obviously a new employee and at our expense she had no idea how to deal with this situation. After multiple attempts and still not being able to open the door she made a phone call. Now there’s another lady on speakerphone explaining to her how to work the device. We could hear the instructions from the lady on the phone and this girl was just not following what she was being told. It’s like she was working with two left hands. We tried to politely offer help and she rudely told us to bother her. Here we are now standing in the hallway for over an hour. Finally she gave up and went back downstairs leaving us in the hallway. We asked for another room and that was not granted. As we sat in the hallway, over 2 HOURS now after 2am a man came with a hole saw to drill a hole in the door (if you can believe that). At this point we were finally given another room but we’re waiting to retrieve our suitcases and items from the locked room. Here it is almost 3 AM and have to wake up in the morning to check out at their regular checkout time. We were told we were going to be comped for our room so that made it all a little more bearable. A few days later, the charge cleared on our credit card. We called to speak to management and explained the entire course of events to him. Of course now that everything was in the past, it has no meaning, he could care less. We were not compensated for the room or anything at all, for all our lost time, aggravation, loss of sleep, and then having to drive 3 hours to get home in that condition. We were treated rudely by everyone we encountered, from the “new” receptionist, all the way to the management. Super unprofessional every one of them. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody regardless how nice the rooms are, if you’re going to be treated like this it’s not worth it.

The hotel leaves a strong impression before you have even settled in. The reception team are warm, quietly capable, and genuinely present, which makes arriving feel easy and reassuring from the first exchange. The room is clean and remarkably still, breakfast is honest and straightforward but prepared with clear attention, and the peacefulness of the surroundings makes deep, restorative sleep feel like something the place simply provides. The detail that lingers most, however, is the value. The standard of comfort and care here reaches considerably further than the price alone would suggest, and it is that difference, more than anything else, that makes this a place you find yourself recommending freely and thinking about returning to long after you have left.

I stayed here with my sisters. The rooms were quite comfortable, but it was all undermined by the complimentary breakfast in the lobby. The oatmeal was watery and looked like glue. The scrambled eggs had the flavor and texture of silicone. The sausage was soggy and over-seasoned, and I was unable to swallow a single bite for fear of being poisoned. Even the juice tasted watered down and smelled slightly rotten. The only decent food wasn't made by the kitchen staff at all, such as the yogurt cups. I declined to try the coffee, as I could only presume the coffee machines had not been descaled in several years. Quite possibly the worst meal I've had in a decade. It's as though the hotel was spitefully and deliberately preparing terrible food in order to ward off any homeless people who come looking for a free meal, to the detriment of the decent folks who are paying to be here. Then again, what else should I expect from a hotel in a state that elects a malicious bully to be its governor?
