TROIA DESIGN HOTEL

Troia Design Hotel does not live up to its five-star classification. With the exception of the massage treatment and breakfast quality, the overall experience was mediocre. Poor maintenance, lack of ambiance, weak service and extra charges for basic facilities make this hotel significantly overpriced. The room The room was far from deluxe or design-oriented and absolutely not worth the price. There were clear signs of poor maintenance and cleaning. The carpet in the bathroom caused visible mold and limescale. Windows and glass were dirty, the ceiling and floor felt damp, and the overall impression was neglected. The TV was very small, there were no power outlets in the bathroom and only a few in the room, forcing us to dry our hair in the toilet. Atmosphere The hotel felt very deserted. Combined with the dark interior and outdated carpets, this created a somber, uninviting atmosphere. The restaurant and breakfast room lacked warmth and ambiance. Overall, not five-star worthy. Wellness facilities The spa facilities (pool, sauna, steam room and showers) are very minimal. Even hotel guests are charged for access (€10 for the first hour). These prices are not proportional to the quality. In a five-star hotel, spa access should be complimentary. The spa is swimwear-only, which is uncomfortable and unhygienic, and a swimming cap is mandatory. Maintenance and cleanliness were average at best. Wellness treatment The massage itself was good and the therapists were clearly skilled. This was the highlight of our stay. Reception and service The route to the hotel and parking was unclear and we parked ourselves. Valet parking would be expected at this level. At check-in, staff were unaware of our booked arrangement. At check-out, we were not asked about our experience, and the massage discount was not applied until we pointed it out. Restaurant and dinner The food quality was decent, but service was poor and unprofessional. Staff had limited English, no wine knowledge and frequently used their phones. Basic hospitality, such as asking about uneaten dishes, was missing. Being sent away for arriving three minutes before opening time is not acceptable for a high-end hotel. Breakfast Breakfast quality was good and met five-star standards, although the room lacked atmosphere. Coffee was poor. The arrangement We booked the “Perfect Night” arrangement. No VIP service was offered and late check-out could not be guaranteed despite the hotel being very quiet. The wellness experience did not last two hours, and the massage was 50 minutes instead of the promised 60. We paid €97 per person for a 50-minute massage and tea. A standard 50-minute massage at the hotel’s spa costs around €90, making the advertised 20% discount misleading rather than a genuine deal. Conclusion All in all, a very disappointing experience that does not justify the five-star label or pricing. Troia is a must-see... splendid view when you're at the tip.

I spent day 2 at the Troia Design Hotel, it was well worth it. I used the package which, in addition to the night's stay, included a dinner for two and allowed us to check out later. We visited the spa and it was very good. We even went to the casino at night and managed to win some money!
