Tsubaki

This is a traditional hot spring inn where you can relax after a soak in the open-air bath and enjoy a leisurely meal in your room. Although the building is old, it was well-maintained and clean. The room I stayed in was luxurious, with a bedroom, living room, a wooden deck facing the garden pond, and an open-air bath. From the open-air bath, I could see the pond with koi swimming right in front of me and the garden, making for a particularly pleasant bath. Bathing in the daylight was nice, but after dark, the illuminated garden trees were reflected in the pond, creating a beautiful sight. What particularly impressed me was the delicious food. A style that's becoming rare these days, where waitresses serve each dish in your room, allowing you to enjoy them at your leisure with wine pairings. Although the living room is a Japanese-style room, there are chairs and a table, so you can sit comfortably. There was a wide selection of complimentary drinks available in the lounge, and the view from the sofa seats was also beautiful. This was a very satisfying inn and I'd definitely like to visit again.

① Guest House Kokinran (Children under 12 years old are not allowed) It was very spacious and quiet, making for a relaxing multi-night stay. There are two in-room baths: one hot spring bath and one non-hot spring bath. The hot spring bath is large enough for two people to bathe at the same time. Be sure to check the water temperature before entering. A staff member will adjust the temperature if you call the front desk. There are two toilets, one Japanese-style and one Western-style. Massage chairs are available. The refrigerator is stocked with water, tea, beer, and cider, and guests can enjoy free drinks. Twin beds and futons accommodate a maximum of 10 people. ② Public Bath: Since the in-room hot spring bath is attached, we didn't use the public bath. There is a lounge near the public bath, where the service is great, offering all-you-can-drink ice cream, drinks, and alcohol. ③ Food: In-room dining is available for groups of up to four. The portions were more than adequate, but we added some optional extras this time. It was very delicious. The Japanese food is the best. ④ Visit: During check-in, they serve matcha green tea and wasanbon sweets. It's very relaxing. The staff were also very kind and helpful. The service was also great. Next time, I'd like to stay in a different room. (December 2025)
