Vendome Hotel

The staff's service attitude was quite good. The following is not about the room service staff. 【Two people with large luggage will find the space very cramped; there's no platform to lay the luggage flat, so it has to be placed on the floor.】 【However, travelers who are particular about showering should definitely not choose this room. The bathroom faucets are extremely bad. Those who need hot water must fine-tune the water temperature very precisely to get the perfect temperature; otherwise, it will be either scalding hot or freezing cold. Also, only cold water is available at a low flow rate; those who need a comfortable temperature will get a high flow rate, and there's no way to adjust the flow.】 The soundproofing at the entrance is poor.

Unfortunately, it only has central air conditioning and cannot control the temperature. Turning on the air conditioning or just running the fan will cause the temperature to drop by 13.5 degrees Celsius. People who are sensitive to the cold should consider this.

First thing you need to know is this hotel is in a shared building with some adult likely x-rated venues, there are 12 floors and at least 3 of the 12 seem to be involved. You will frequently be riding in the elevator with a certain type of people especially in the evenings and a tough looking crowd, seemingly bouncers hanging around outside, but they never bothered us and other people working in the building were generally polite, holding elevators open for us, etc. I probably would not recommend this hotel for any women travelling solo. I was travelling with my partner and this made her very uncomfortable but can only imagine what it would be like as an experience if she or someone like her was traveling alone. Aside from the unusual ‘neighbours’, this hotel isn’t the best but it’s not that bad. Staff are very helpful for navigating the local area and it is a pretty decent location with subway access only a couple dozen feet from the entrance. When we needed to find laundry they helped us locate the closest laundromat, when we needed drinking water they replaced the water tank in the guest commons area so we could refill our bottles. We did get a weird vibe from this place our first two days here and came here to check out other people’s experiences, I saw someone comment that they thought their room had been tampered with so I set up a camera to monitor the room while we were gone and put up the do not disturb sign on the door, after several days of monitoring I am quite certain no one entered our room while we were out. The doors do not always fully close/lock though unless you pull them tight so that’s something to keep in mind. The rooms themselves aren’t much to look at, they feel like converted offices and there is a lot of light fixtures or wiring that seem roughed in; can see the exposed diodes etc, but this wasn’t a major issue for us just a visual thing. The room we stayed in could’ve been cleaner but the bed and sheets were clean. There was no window so staying in the room could be a bit disorienting in terms of time; can’t tell whether it’s day or night without looking at a clock, etc. The wifi was also slow or behaving inconsistently. At times it was easier to switch to my eSIM than use the network. There is a fairly strong smell of smoking in the elevator but we didn’t experience any smoke smell in our room or the hallways. I did find a cigarette butt in the elevator one evening and noticed it was gone in the morning. I saw a few reviews complaining about smoke smell but I do believe the staff are taking this seriously and doing the best they can and I think any smoking odour in the building is more related to the other occupants in the building. It’s advertised as a 3 star hotel and I think that’s a fair rating given our experience here.
