The hotel is decent, the breakfast is nothing special but okay. The room is a bit worn, but I think they're renovating it in installments. The service is okay. A minus is the noise from both the hallway and the outside (plus, the adjacent hotel is undergoing renovations, so unfortunately, you can hear it too).

Our stay at the Hotel Vila Baleira Funchal was unfortunately marred by several shortcomings. The room was very damp overall: the floor was constantly damp and in some places had warped, which could indicate previous water damage. The room had a distinctly damp and, in some areas, unpleasant smell. As a result, our clothes and socks also became damp. Furthermore, the room was rather cold, and there was no working heating. The advertised sea view was only partially visible – see photo. The mattress was worn out, and the room was very noisy – conversations from the neighbors were clearly audible. One electrical outlet was faulty, which meant a lamp didn't work, and the room was very dark overall. The shower gel was not replenished during our stay. The water had a strong chlorine odor. We had to have our room keys replaced three times because they didn't work. On one occasion, no staff could be found at reception. Parking is available for a fee (€8 per day). Additionally, a construction site next door caused further disturbance. On the positive side, the breakfast was good, and the staff were always helpful. Overall, there is unfortunately significant room for improvement, especially regarding the condition of the rooms and the technical equipment.

A very nice hotel with an excellent location. Across the street for the the bus to the old town. Daily house keeping does a fantastic job cleaning and restocking the rooms. The breakfast is outstanding. Lots of choices. Many fresh fruits, fresh pastries and hot items. There is also a menu to order from which includes specialty coffees, omelettes and pancakes. Serving staff are friendly, polite and very efficient.
