Vila Gale Collection Sao Miguel

My experience at this Vila Galé hotel fell far short of expectations and the standard that the brand usually conveys. The room had several unfinished details, looking like it was under construction, which is unacceptable in a unit of this category. At the bar, we waited about 30 minutes for service. There was another guest who had been waiting even longer. We went to reception and were informed that they were looking for the bar staff member, which demonstrates a clear lack of organization and team coordination. In terms of soundproofing, the experience was very negative. We stayed in room 303 and could clearly hear guests on the floor above running and jumping, to the point that the wardrobe doors creaked. We were offered a room change around midnight, which is unreasonable considering the time, and the next day the people above our room threw balloons out the window. This shows the civility of the people. At breakfast (around 9 am), the food replenishment was clearly insufficient. Several basic items were missing, such as cheese, ham, fresh cheese, yogurt, bread, and juices. There were many tables that needed clearing, and despite several people waiting, the staff were focused on serving coffees and cappuccinos instead of replenishing the buffet. At the indoor pool, despite there being only 3 people, we were informed that there were no towels available—something difficult to understand in a hotel of this size. In short, compared to other Vila Galé Collection properties, this stay left much to be desired, especially in terms of organization, service, and customer care. I sincerely hope that this criticism will be viewed constructively and that improvements will be made, as the brand has the potential for much better.

A work trip to Ponta Delgada led me to discover this hotel. I really liked the hotel's image and all its areas. The service is also very good, both at reception and in the dining area. I give it a slightly lower rating because the room I was assigned wasn't the best in terms of soundproofing from the street noise. Besides being on the first floor, it was the corner room overlooking the fort. This ended up being a bit inconvenient. Apart from that, both cleanliness and decor were impeccable and it is recommended. Certainly, if I return to Ponta Delgada for a different reason than work, I will consider this Vila Galé for my stay.
