The historic Villa Albonico is beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Como. We could even see the lake directly from our bed. And the breakfast spot right in the beautiful garden is truly a dream. The owner, Fabio, gave us a very warm welcome and immediately invited us for a drink, as we were completely exhausted from lugging our suitcases up and down so many stairs. Unfortunately, we hadn't asked how best to reach the villa, so we didn't park on the same level a bit further away, but instead parked down by the lake. The villa itself is very authentically furnished – except for Fabio's modern kitchen 😉 Breakfast was classic Italian with cornetti (croissants) and jam. However, it was expanded to include cereals, yogurt, and a delicious fruit plate. If you want eggs, ham, or cheese, you have to pay extra. We had the ham once, but it was really very good. Our room had its own toilet and sink, but the shower was shared. We knew that when we made our reservation, so it didn't bother us. In our case, we were the only guests anyway, so it was even our private bathroom. We can highly recommend this accommodation! The walking path directly above the villa is also highly recommended, although we unfortunately only discovered it the day before our departure.
