We stayed in this beautiful little hotel in November, in the bamboo villa upstairs with the fantastic open window. We wholeheartedly agree with the almost exclusively excellent reviews, were it not for one small drawback. On our last night, someone broke into our room (which was made easier by the open window design) and deliberately stole our cash from our handbag. Beforehand, they had switched off the circuit breaker, leaving us without light or water. To withdraw the cash, a taxi driver, with whom we had booked a day trip through the hotel, drove us to an ATM. Only he could have known that we had cash and seen where it was when he paid the tip. We had actually promised the hotel owners we wouldn't leave a review about this, especially since they had partially reimbursed us for our loss in the form of a discount on our bill. The problem only caught up with us now, when we discovered that our credit card was very likely hacked at this very ATM. This experience shouldn't deter you from booking this hotel; rather, we would like to encourage the owners to increase security (safe or improved window design) and to be more careful about the people they work with.
