Village Hotel Basingstoke

Review of Village Hotel, Basingstoke I recently stayed at the Village Hotel in Basingstoke for two nights, and overall, the experience was satisfactory. The hotel was clean throughout, and the staff were consistently friendly and polite. Prices were reasonable for a hotel environment, and I didn’t expect them to match high‑street rates, so no issues there. The hotel has a strong sports theme, which is clear from the bar area where multiple screens show sport continuously. While this will appeal to many guests, I did feel the lack of a quiet lounge area for those who prefer a calmer space to chat or unwind. Adding such an area would really enhance the experience for guests who aren’t there for the sports atmosphere. That said, I did encounter a few issues during my stay: 1. Noise from housekeeping staff – Doors were frequently allowed to bang shut while housekeeping were working. This can be quite disruptive, especially for guests who may still be resting in their rooms. 2. Bar service delays – Although the bar staff were always polite, they weren’t always attentive to app orders. On a couple of occasions, orders took much longer than expected because staff were chatting among themselves rather than monitoring incoming requests. 3. Breakfast quality – Breakfast was mediocre. I arrived as soon as the restaurant opened, yet the hot food was only lukewarm at best, which was disappointing. Despite these issues, the stay wasn’t unpleasant, and the hotel has several positives. With a few improvements—particularly around noise, attentiveness, and breakfast quality—it could offer a much more consistent and enjoyable experience.

Came to the bar recently to watch the football with mates. Staff were very friendly and Chloe helped us with options for food. Will be visiting again.
