voco Gold Coast – Extremely upsetting and unacceptable experience I had a deeply distressing experience at the hotel breakfast that I have never encountered in my life. I ordered two omelettes and specifically requested no bacon, clearly explaining that I am Muslim and do not eat pork. The chef prepared the first omelette and asked me to return to my seat while he brought the second one. When the second omelette was delivered, I ate it assuming it was prepared correctly. It was full of bacon. This was not a preference issue — it was a clear dietary and religious requirement that was explicitly communicated. Being served pork after clearly requesting none is deeply disrespectful and upsetting. I raised the issue with staff and asked for reasonable compensation. The response showed a lack of care or understanding of the seriousness of the situation, with only a free breakfast offered, which was not appropriate given the circumstances. This incident shows a serious failure in food handling, communication, and cultural sensitivity. I would strongly caution anyone with dietary or religious requirements to be extremely careful dining here.

I have stayed at many hotels during my working career and I don’t recommend staying at this hotel front desk staff have lack understanding in basic communication skills and maths. They refused to refund the $50 with held at check in. Claiming it was up to the bank, then that didn’t have to as they had taken it from the drinks and food money. Despite proof and a long email trail spanning 2 months of delays and excuses. Luckily for us our bank is good at math and refunded it. Not only that staff at check in repeatedly asked me to upgrade for extra cost normally that’s done automatically for rewards members just not at this place. Don’t say you weren’t warned. There better places to stay were the staff are better on the coast. Accor is a great hotel chain who know how to treat reward members. This experience has left a sour taste in my mouth with IHG and I won’t be recommending this place to work colleagues or anyone else.
